9.0 TROUBLESHOOTING
TURN OFF THE APPLIANCE COMPLETELY AND LET IT COOL BEFORE SERVICING. ONLY A
QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSON SHOULD SERVICE OR REPAIR THE APPLIANCE.
SYMPTOM
Smoke or smell
coming from the

fl ame. (ie. Ceiling fan,
open window etc.)
Overfi lled burn pot /
burner.
Flame diverter pulled too
slowly, allowing vapour to
build up and burn through
the cracks.
Foreign material
obstructing fl ame diverter,
not allowing it to close.
Insuffi cient fuel.
Fuel is too cold.
Flame diverter is not fully

Clean the appliance

Clean burn pot / burner

Use only denatured ethanol

The smell only lasts for a short period of time.

Remove any air infl uence or relocate the appliance
when cool.

People walking too close to the appliance. Relocate
to a low traffi c area when cool.

Fill to appropriate level.

Allow fuel to burn out completely.

Open the fl ame diverter, allow the fl ame to settle and
then close with a faster motion.

Allow fuel to burn out completely.

Allow fuel to burn out completely.

Clean burner.

Fill to appropriate level.

Allow some time for it to warm up.

Open fl ame diverter completely.

Use only denatured ethanol.

Remove all ignition sources.

Clean using an absorbant cloth to prevent ignition.
Dispose of cloth in a safe manner and keep away
from the appliance and ignition sources.

Ventilate where spill occured.

Only light the appliance when 100% sure spill has
been cleaned up.
