7 Commissioning
7.1 Step-by-step commissioning
Procedure
If the product was installed on an actuator before: Perform an Application re-
u
set. See
g 8.3.5 Carry out a
reset.
7.2 Teaching in the measurement range
Notes
• If switching points are taught in before the full teach-in, the position of the
switching points changes during the teach-in process.
• Value of index 16512 MDC Descr > Subindex 1 and 2 (Measurement Range)
changes during teach-in process.
Procedure
1. Restoring factory defaults: Carry out Factory Reset or Device Reset. See
g 8.3.5 Carry out a
reset.
2. If using IO-Link: Carry out Application Reset, Factory Reset or Reset Trained Al-
gorithm Parameter. See
g 8.3.5 Carry out a
3. If using IO-Link: Adjust the indices. See
switching
points.

4. Move the magnetic piston to the position for the zero point.
5. Check whether the magnetic piston is in the measurement range: check
whether the yellow LED 1 (MR) lights up.
6. Let the actuator cycle over the full travel range at least five times.
ð Full accuracy has been reached (minimum linearity error, correct measure-
ment range display).
7.3 Determining the application measurement range
Notes
• The smaller the application measurement range, the better the performance.
Procedure
1. If using IO-Link: Use the index 16512 (0x4080) MDC Descr > Subindex 1 (0x01)
Lower limit and Subindex 2 (0x02) Upper limit to read out the application mea-
surement range.
2. If using IO-Link: Use the index 265 Position noise limit for application range
[mm] to influence the application measurement range.
7.4 Scaling the analog measurement range
Use the index 207 (0xCF) Set up analog output to scale the analog measure-
u
ment range corresponding to the stroke.
Table 2: Default position
Position in mm
-25 mm
+25 mm
Output the entire analog value range with strokes below 50 mm:
1. Enter the desired starting point under subindex 1 (0x01) Measurement area
start point .
2. Enter the desired end point under subindex 2 (0x02) Measurement area end
point .

8 Operation
8.1 Basic requirements
General requirements
• Never switch off, modify or bypass safety devices.
• Do not touch the product or any connected parts during operation.
In case of malfunctions during operation
• In case of a malfunction that presents an immediate danger for employees or
systems: Switch off product.
8.2 Checking the zero point and end point adjustment
1. Travel to the zero point.
ð Voltage at the corresponding output pin is approx. 0 V.
ð Yellow LED 1 (MR) lights up.
2. If a different voltage is output at the output pin or the yellow LED 1 (MR) does
not light up: Teach in measurement range again. See
measurement
3. Travel to the end point.
ð Voltage at the corresponding output pin is approx. 10 V.
ð Yellow LED 1 (MR) lights up.
4. If a different voltage is output at the output pin or the yellow LED 1 (MR) does
not light up: Teach in measurement range again. See
measurement
8.3 Operating via IO-Link
8.3.1 Position offset
257 (0x101) [x10µm] Position offset
The value of the position offset in µm is set in 10-µm increments and added to
the actual position value.
Change the position offset in index 257 (0x101) Position offset [x10 µm].
