Inspired by the Patek Philippe timepieces for
aviators created in the 1930s, the first Pilot-style
model was launched in 2015. Since then, the family
has welcomed several Calatrava Travel Time
watches with dual time-zone displays as well as
a Grand Complication Alarm Travel Time with
a 24-hour alarm. The first Pilot model with a
chronograph, Reference 5924 houses self-winding
CH 28-520 C FUS caliber combining three prac-
tical and easy-to-use complications: a f lyback
chronograph, a Travel Time display, and a date in-
dication by hand (at 12 o'clock) synchronized with
local time. To maintain an uncluttered design, two
pushers for correcting the local time usually lo-
cated on the sides of the case at 8 and 10 o'clock
have been replaced by large correction push-pieces
located in the same places and activated by a ded-
icated correction stylus supplied with the watch.
Caliber CH 28-520 C FUS remains faithful to the
traditional column wheel for the transmission of
the chronograph commands. However, instead of
a horizontal clutch with toothed wheels, it has a
vertical disk-type clutch. This modern technical
solution causes almost no wear and tear, and the
central chronograph seconds hand can be used as
a permanent (running) seconds display. The fly-
back function enables a new timing operation to be
started instantly without first stopping the hands.
