Stop the engine, allow it to cool
down and detach the spark plug
socket before performing any
maintenance operations.
Before each use:
● Check the oil filling level (
● Check the oil bath air filter (
After the first 20 operating hours or
after 1 month:
● Change the engine oil (
Every 50 operating hours or every 3
months:
● Clean the oil bath air filter (
Every 100 operating hours or every 6
months:
● Change the engine oil (
● Check the spark plug (
Every 300 operating hours or every 12
months:
● Have the inspection carried out by a
specialist dealer. STIHL recommends
STIHL specialist dealers.

7.2 Checking and cleaning the oil bath
air filter

● Park the STIHL machine on a flat
surface. Clean the housing of the oil
bath air filter.
● Unscrew wing nut (1) and remove
together with washer (2) and cover (3).
● Remove filter insert (4) from cover (3).
● Remove oil bath air filter housing (5).
● Check all parts of the ail bath air filter for
damage and replace if necessary. In
particular replace damaged or very dirty
filters.
Clean filter insert (4) every 50 hours of
operation or every 3 months. Clean the
filter more frequently if using the STIHL
machine in dusty conditions.
● To clean:
Tap filter insert (4) to dislodge dirt/rinse
with soapy water and allow to dry –
dispose of contaminated soapy water in
an environmentally friendly manner.
Immerse new or cleaned filter insert (4)
in fresh engine oil before installing –
squeeze out excess engine oil.
● Drain the contaminated engine oil from
oil bath air filter (5), remove
contaminants, clean the housing with
soapy water and allow to dry.
● Install oil bath air filter housing (5).
● Fill oil bath air filter housing (5) with
engine oil to the marking (6).(
● Assemble the oil bath air filter in reverse
order.

Recommended type: F7RTC
Avoid damage to the machine!
An unsuitable spark plug can result
in damage to the engine.
