Use of the Complete Neck Coverage (27-0099-87) does not increase the Assigned Protection Factor (APF) of
the 9100 MP Headgear. The 27-0099-87 is designed to help limit the wearer from spark, spatter and optical
radiation, and does not increase the level of respiratory protection provided. Improper use may overexpose you to
contaminants, and may result in sickness or death.

Intended Use
Use of this 3M™ Speedglas™ Complete Neck Coverage for 9100 MP (27-0099-87) does not increase the Assigned
Protection Factor (APF) of 25 for the 9100 MP headgear. The 27-0099-87 is designed to help protect the wearer from spark,
spatter and ultra-violet (UV) radiation encountered during welding, arc gouging and grinding applications.
Attaching the Complete Neck Coverage to Headgear
With the inside of the helmet turned so that it is facing you, place the FR vinyl material, with the circular hole, over the
breathing tube attachment point near the back of the headgear (Fig. 1).
The complete neck coverage has four larger "button holes" around the top perimeter that attach under the two middle and
two rear head suspension hangers of the six point suspension (Fig. 2).
It is easiest to fit one hanger through the "button hole" and then re-insert the hanger into the headgear, working around the
headgear one hanger at a time until all button holes and hangers are attached to the headgear.
NOTE: Consult the 9100MP User Instructions for information on how to properly insert the suspension hangers.
It is important that excess material on the top side of the button hole does not interfere with the suspension hanger from
being able to be fully re-inserted back into its slot, see Fig. 3. If interference occurs, remove the hanger from the headgear,
remove excess gathered material and re-insert the hanger into the slot, carefully keeping the excess material from
"jamming" between the hanger and the hanger slot. The hanger should be fully engaged back into its slot, flush with the
surrounding plastic and securely fit. The hanger and webbing help to provide the top impact protection and therefore should
be re-installed properly.
Once the complete neck coverage is fastened to the head suspension hangers, take the black suede faceseal hanger,
and insert it through the remaining larger button hole in the complete neck coverage. Once the faceseal hanger is
threaded through the top button hole, thread it up and over the head suspension, between the outer helmet shell and head
suspension, and attach it to the hanger post by pushing the hole of the faceseal hanger through and onto the post on the
helmet suspension, see Figs. 4-6.
With the faceseal hanger attached to the post, take the thinner elastic material and thread it through the bottom/smaller
button hole in the complete neck coverage (Fig. 7). With the elastic through the complete neck coverage, wrap it under
the head suspension, while holding the black suede faceseal hanger down and secure it to the same post as the faceseal
hanger. The elastic should be on top of the faceseal hanger, holding it flat and in position.
Donning & Fitting
The following instructions cover donning and fitting of the complete neck coverage. Follow the User Instructions for your
3M™ Adflo™ PAPR or Supplied Air Unit and the 9100 MP headgear to properly assemble, don, and fit your specific air
source and headgear. Complete all necessary performance checks as described in those User Instructions and verify that
the airflow is adequate before entering a contaminated area.

1. Once you have assembled the complete neck coverage to the headgear, assure that the barrel clip and elastic on the
neck collar are open sufficiently for your head to easily pass through the opening.
2. Raise the outer welding shield and the inner grinding shield so that they are in the "up" as worn position. Place the
headgear onto your head and adjust the ratchet on the head suspension for a snug, but comfortable fit.
3. With the headgear fitted onto your head, adjust the complete neck coverage so that it sits just below your chin. The
complete neck coverage should be adjusted utilizing the elastic cord and "barrel clip" located near the right cheek such
that the soft cotton-like material is snug to your facial skin; the neck collar may also be tightened until snug with the neck.
4. Once the complete neck coverage is fitted properly, lower the inner shield into the down position, while keeping the
outer shield, containing the ADF in the raised position on top of the headgear.
a. Pull down on the loop located on the outside of the faceseal to help ensure the faceseal is seated under the chin
and over the complete neck coverage. With the inner shield down, assure that the perimeter of the faceseal is pulled
down and positioned over the complete neck coverage, such that no bare skin is exposed to spark, spatter and
radiant light (Fig. 8).
b. The headgear should sit level on your head with the faceseal hugging the complete neck coverage. If the faceseal
feels loose, or has any gaps, use the faceseal drawstrings and barrel clips in the temple region to tighten the faceseal
to remove any gaps in the faceseal.
5. Complete any final performance checks required according to the User Instructions for your PAPR or Supplied Air Unit
before entering a contaminated area.
Inspection
Before each use, examine the condition of the 3M™ Speedglas™ Complete Neck Coverage. Check that there are no rips,
holes, tears, or other damage. Look closely at the stitching. Ensure stitching is intact and there is no unraveling or gaps in
the seams. If you discover any signs of wear and/or damage, discard the component and replace it with a new one.
Wash and Care Instructions
If the complete neck coverage becomes soiled, it may be washed in warm water, less than 120°F (48°C) using a mild
laundry detergent and regular wash cycle. Air dry after washing.
Storage/Disposal
Store product in a clean area that is protected from contamination, damage, dirt, debris, product distortion, and direct
sunlight. Do not store next to furnaces, ovens, or other sources of high heat. Dispose of product according to local regulations.
