check whether a cable is 12mm or more thick (the 11mm gauge will
not fit on the cable) or if the cable is bigger than 16mm (the 16mm
gauge will not fit on the cable) [15]. For cables smaller than 12mm
or bigger than 16mm diameter [16] or for chains [17] a carabiner
with big gate opening according to EN 12275/K can be connected
to your RIDER 3.0. You can then negotiate the relevant sections as
you would with a standard via ferrata set with 2 carabiners.
Rental:
The user shall be informed of the complete function of the RIDER
3.0 according to the user manual. The inspection of the RIDER3.0
and the via ferrata carabiner has to be checked for function and
condition, as well as the faultless condition of all textile elements
(shock absorber, seams, flexible legs) before handing it out. If there
is any doubt about the status of a part of the set, the set cannot be
handed out.
Cleaning:
Wash dirty textile products in lukewarm water using a soft brush
(where necessary use a neutral detergent). Rinse well with clean
water. Dry slowly at room temperature – never in a tumble dryer or
on a radiator.
Remove dust and dirt from the RIDER 3.0 using a soft brush and oil
in the relevant places to maintain functionality.
After every day's use on the via ferrata, clean and maintain the
area where the cable runs through using a lightly oiled cloth. Rust
can be dissolved in particles from the wires during the use of the via
ferrata and can be encased in the RIDER 3.0. As the RIDER 3.0 is
made from an extremely high-strength carbon steel, corrosion can
develop if the care instructions are not followed. The product
guarantee does not cover corrosion in the cable channel.
Transport:
Use an equipment bag or a special storage or transport container
to transport the equipment. This will protect the product from direct
sunlight, chemicals, dirt and mechanical damage.
Storage:
Store the product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight out
of the transport containers and without any mechanical pressure,
crushing or tensile load. Warning! Avoid any contact with chemicals
(oil, battery acid etc.)!
Service life:
The service life of the product generally depends on the type and
frequency of use and on external influences. Products made from
chemical fibres undergo a certain ageing process even when not in
use and this depends in particular on the strength of UV radiation
and climatic environmental influences. With frequent use, attention
should be paid in particular to wear in the area of the flex arms and
