Section 4 Connecting alarms and relays
Explosion hazard. Do not connect or disconnect electrical components or circuits to the equipment
unless power has been switched off or the area is known to be non-hazardous.
Section 5 Connecting analog and digital outputs
Explosion hazard. Do not connect or disconnect electrical components or circuits to the equipment
unless power has been switched off or the area is known to be non-hazardous.
Explosion hazard. Never connect any sensor or digital or analog module to a SC4500 that is not
clearly marked as certified for Class 1, Division 2 Hazardous Locations.
Section 6 Connecting digital sensors or Ethernet
Explosion hazard. Do not connect or disconnect electrical components or circuits to the equipment
unless power has been switched off or the area is known to be non-hazardous.
Explosion hazard. Never connect any sensor or digital or analog module to a SC4500 that is not
clearly marked as certified for Class 1, Division 2 Hazardous Locations.
When a quick-connect fitting is used to attach a digital sensor or Ethernet to the controller, a
connector safety lock must be installed.
1. Attach the sensor connector to the plug on the controller.
2. Align the connector safety lock over the connector.
3. Squeeze the halves together to lock.
To remove the connector safety lock:
1. Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver in the locking groove.
2. Pivot the screwdriver away from the groove and separate the two halves.
Section 7 Connecting USB flash drives
Explosion hazard. Do not use the USB connector in hazardous areas.
