We recommend you check with the following points with
the train operator:
• There is suitable boarding access available to allow
you to access the railway carriage.
• There is suitable access to the intended "wheelchair "
space.
• On joining and leaving the train and there is suitable
access onto the platform.
• The boarding access is suitable for the combined
mass of your wheelchair and the occupant.
• The slope of the access is not greater than the
maximum safe slope of the wheelchair .
• Any steps or risers are no greater than the maximum
height of the wheelchair obstacle climbing height.
• There is adequate turning space within the access
area to the train and on the train itself.
Most train operators will provide assistance provided
that arrangements have been made in advance. We
suggest you have the Owner's Manual ready when
planning your journey and when contacting them.
12.8 Other Transport requirements:
The wheelchair may be transported by road, rail, sea or
air as luggage, (see warning below).
Before you travel, please contact the appropriate carrier
or travel operator. You may be asked to provide certain
information about the wheelchairsuch as the wheelchair
mass and overall dimensions. This information can be
found in the relevant model tables in section 14.0.
WARNING!
If the wheelchair is transported by air, the batteries may
need to be removed as the batteries supplied are not
IATA approved for air travel. Your dealer can assist in
supplying batteries that are IATA approved.
If transporting the wheelchair by road as luggage, it may
need to be secured to prevent unintended movement
into other vehicle passengers in the event of a sudden
stop or placed in a space reserved for luggage. Your
wheelchair can be secured by attaching suitable
restraints, (see section 12.5).
Docking Systems:
The Salsa M2 Mini is approved for use with Wheelchair
Adapted Vehicles (WAV). Product prescribers or users
should consult with the wheelchair docking system
supplier, and the WAV adaption installer to ensure
compatibility with the Salsa M2 Mini and the end user's
vehicle.

Do not sit in your wheelchair when it is transported as
luggage.

12.9 Storage Spec removal of parts before travelling:
CAUTION!
Before you travel, please contact the appropriate carrier.
The travel operator will be able to supply details of any
special requirements/instructions.
• Ensure that any detachable parts are secured with
your mobility aid or separately packed and labelled so
they do not get lost during loading and unloading.
• Take this Owner's Manual with you.
• The carrier will need to refer to the following sections.
• How to lock/unlock the Joystick, (Section 7).
• How to disconnect the batteries, (Section 11).
• How to disconnect the drive, (Section 5).
12.10 Medium to long term storage:
When storing your wheelchair for long periods of time (in
excess of one week), follow these simple instructions:
• Fully charge the wheelchair for at least 24 hours.
• Disconnect the batteries.
CAUTION!
Never store your wheelchair for medium to long periods
of time:
•
Outside.
•
In direct sunlight, (plastic parts may discolour).
•
Near a source of direct heat.
•
In a damp environment.
•
In a cold environment.
•
With the batteries connected, (even if the controller
is switched off).
Avoiding all of the above will minimise battery deep
cycle discharge and extend battery lifetime.
When returning the wheelchair to use, please reconnect
the batteries/battery boxes and charge the wheelchair
for at least 24 hours before using again.
