Functional description

3.2.1
Dräger Interlock
5x00/7x00
Before starting a vehicle equipped with the Dräger Interlock
driver must provide a breath sample. The device measures the breath alcohol
concentration and can (optionally) record the test result, measured value,
engine starts, as well as notes about manipulations and violations in the data
memory. The vehicle can only be started when the measured breath alcohol
concentration lies below a preset limit value. The instrument will also ask
(optional) for retests while driving.
The instrument is not a security device for automobiles and is not a substitute
for a vehicle immobilizer for theft protection.
3.2.2
Camera (available as an option)
The camera can be used to record photos of the text subject during a
measurement.
3.2.3
GPRS module/LTS module (optionally available)
The GPRS or LTE module can be used to expand the instrument with additional
functionalities.

Intended use

The Interlock
5x00/7x00 is a breath alcohol measuring device with a vehicle
immobiliser.

Use
4.1
Installation
WARNING
Alterations and additions to the instrument may cause danger!
Such alterations and additions invalidate the certificate of installation contained
in this instructions for use booklet.
Installation may only be carried out by an authorized Dräger Interlock service
centre or a professional auto repair shop according to the respective assembly
instructions. When choosing the installation site, the existing regulations for the
interior of vehicles have to be observed.
4.2
Requirements for a measurement
WARNING
Alcohol and solvent vapours in the ambient air may distort the
measurement!
► No alcohol and solvent vapours (disinfectants, window cleaning fluids) in the
ambient air.
► Do not store in ambient air containing alcohol and solvent vapours
(disinfectants, window cleaning fluids).
–
Do not allow a high alcohol concentration to reach the sensor, e.g. from
drinking alcohol, eating alcohol containing foods or rinsing the mouth with
alcoholic mouthwash just before measurement.
4.3
Detaching the handset
1. At temperatures below -20°C (-4°F) and over +70°C (176°F) in the interior of
the vehicle, the handset can be detached from the connecting cable, if
provided, for quicker readiness of use.
