b) Start-Up
The manual for the remote control system is included separately. Always observe all safety notes included
in it as well as any additional information!
• Only use suitable driving batteries for the vehicle. Never operate the speed controller with a power unit, not even for
test purposes.
This vehicle is exclusively suitable for use with NiMH rechargeable batteries with 6 cells (rated voltage
7.2V).
When using a drive battery with more cells, there is a danger of fire from overheating of the speed control-
ler. Apart from this, the vehicle's drive will be overloaded and damaged by this (e.g. differential). Loss of
guarantee/warranty!
The speed controller is generally also suitable for use with LiPo batteries with 2 cells (rated voltage 7.4 V).
However, it has no undervoltage recognition/switch-off. When using LiPo batteries, there therefore is a
damage of deep discharge, which will damage the LiPo batteries! The slightly higher rated voltage of 2-cell
LiPo batteries also poses a danger of overheating or overload of the speed controller and engine, loss of
warranty/guarantee!
Therefore, operate the vehicle only with a 6-cell NiMH battery pack with a rated voltage of 7.2 V as de-
scribed initially.
• Always switch on the receiver first before operating the vehicle. Only then can the driving battery of the car be
connected with the speed controller and the speed controller be switched on. Otherwise, the vehicle might show
unpredictable responses!
Place the vehicle on an appropriate surface before connecting the driving battery, so that the wheels can
turn freely.
Check the position of the on/off switch of the speed controller and place it in the "OFF" position (switched
off).
Switch on the transmitter if you haven't done it already. Check its function (e.g. operation display of the
transmitter). Exchange the batteries/rechargeable batteries when they become low.
Put the trimming for the throttle/brake function at the transmitter into the centre position.
Now connect a fully charged driving battery to the speed controller. As described above already, only a
NiMH driving battery with 6 cells (rated voltage 7.2V) must be used.
Hold the vehicle, but do not reach into the drive unit. There is a risk of serious injury! Never hold the vehicle
by its wheels!
Only then switch on the speed controller (switch position e.g. labelled "ON").
• Check that the vehicle reacts to remote control commands as expected (steering and drive) before taking it from the
support and placing it on the ground with its wheels.
Set the trimming for throttle/brake lever at the transmitter so that the engine no longer turns when the
throttle/brake lever is released (neutral position). Programme the neutral and full throttle positions at the
speed controller if required; see chapter 10.
Set the transmitter trim for steering so that the front wheels are about straight. The exact setting for straight
driving can be performed during a drive.
