The EMM will not communicate with the ICON
system and the EST Calibration tab of the
Evinrude Diagnostics Settings screen will not be
visible unless the correct software revision is
installed FIRST.
Remove the ESM ignition connector from the
engine wring harness ignition connector.

Use a conventional key switch installed at the
engine harness connection to control power to
the EMM when installing software.
Use Evinrude Diagnostics software version 4.0
or later to communicate with Evinrude ETEC
outboards equipped with the ICON system.
Open the Identity screen to check the engine's
model number, software version, and revision
numbers.
Older
Diagnostics software do not support ICON
system configuration options.

require updated software revisions.
For 60°V6 150–200HP use software revision
17410 or higher.

Settings screen will not be visible.
ENGINE POSITION (Instance) IDENTIFI-
CATION AND SETUP
If this kit is being installed on an outboard in a
multi-engine application, the transom position of
the outboard must be identified on the network.
Engine identity is set by an Engine Identity Plug
installed in the ESM. Outboards are identified as
Instance 0 through 4, from port to starboard, up
to five engines.
Each identity plug is stamped with its instance
number.

If the outboard is a single engine or the port
engine in a multi-engine application, no changes
are required.
For all other outboards, engine identity must be
set by replacing the original plug (0) with the plug
