INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

WARNING
Improper installation of this kit could
result in loss of boat control.
To prevent accidental starting while ser-
vicing, disconnect the battery cables at
the battery.
This conversion kit must be installed by a Dealer
using Evinrude Diagnostics software.
This kit must be used on a boat equipped with an
ICON remote control network.
CHECK ENGINE SOFTWARE
If this kit is installed on a 2008 or 2009 model
outboard, use Evinrude Diagnostics software to
update engine management software to the
latest revision BEFORE installation.
IMPORTANT: The EMM will not communicate
with the ICON system unless the correct soft-
ware revision is installed FIRST.
Use a conventional key switch installed at the
engine harness connection to control power to
the EMM when installing software.
Refer to ICON SYSTEM SETUP on p. 8.
REMOVE EXISTING LINKAGES
Disconnect the battery cables at the battery.
NOTICE
Always disconnect the negative
(–) cable first to avoid damaging the electri-
cal system of the engine.

Remove lower engine covers and air silencer.
Remove throttle cam screw and throttle cam.

Remove throttle lever screw, throttle lever, and
throttle link. Do not use the original throttle link
for ICON system installation.

Remove retainer and washer from shift lever pin.
Remove screw, shift arm and link. Save washers
from shift linkage for reuse in kit installation. Do
not use the original shift link for ICON system
installation.
Remove trunnion bracket from reed plate.
