Important safety notes
G
WARNING
Each step of the installation instructions, as well as
the warnings, general safety information and notes
provided, must be followed exactly. If the basic
carrier bars are not correctly mounted, they may
come loose from your vehicle together with their
cargo, resulting in injury to you and other persons
and/or damage to property, including to your
vehicle.
G
WARNING
The roof load increases the surface area exposed to
the wind, which also raises the vehicle's center of
gravity, thus causing a change in driving
characteristics. For example, the additional weight
on the roof of the vehicle may impair braking
performance, cornering ability and the acceleration
characteristics of the vehicle.
Always adapt your driving style to the current road,
traffic and weather conditions, and exercise
particular caution when driving with a load attached
to the roof.
Drive especially carefully, even when driving with
unladen basic carrier bars mounted on the vehicle.
Do not exceed the maximum roof load or the
maximum permitted overall weight of the vehicle.
This also applies when equipment is installed on the
basic carrier bars (e.g. roofbox, ski rack).
Otherwise, the basic carrier bars, attachments
mounted to the basic carrier bars and/or cargo
may come loose from the vehicle, resulting in injury
to you or other persons and/or damage to property,
including to your vehicle.
Observe the vehicle's permissible roof load; see
the vehicle Operator's Manual.
When the basic carrier bars are mounted, the
panorama sliding sunroof cannot be opened. To
ventilate the vehicle interior, the panorama sliding
sunroof can still be raised at the rear. If the
panorama sliding sunroof comes into contact with
a basic carrier bar which has been approved by
Mercedes-Benz it will lower slightly but remain
raised at the rear.
