4. Proper Installation
WARNING
CAUTION
1. Before installation, be sure to remove all protective seals.
2. Before installing the product, blow out the inlet piping to remove any piping scraps, dirt and oil.
Close the inlet valve after blowdown.
3. Install the product so the arrow on the body is pointing in the direction of flow.
4. Install on horizontal piping with the glass portion facing up.
5. Connect the outlet piping.
6. Open the inlet valve and check to make sure that the product functions properly.
7. As sight glasses deteriorate with use, they should be replaced annually to ensure safety.
5. Operational Check
A visual inspection can be carried out to aid in determining the necessity for immediate
maintenance or repair.
Normal:
When condensate is present, the ball floats. (The sound of flow can be heard.)
(For T10N/TF10N/T10NL/TF10NL, when the flow of condensate is light, the sound of
flow can be heard but the ball may not float.)
Failure:
Fluid leaks to the outside of the product, the ball is not visible or the ball does not float.
6. Inspection and Maintenance
Operational inspections should be performed at least twice a year, or as called for by the
operating conditions. Sight glass failure may result in damage to piping and equipment, faulty or
low quality products or losses due to leakage.
WARNING
CAUTION
• Be careful not to damage the glass by striking it with objects or inflicting
any other shocks.
• Install for use under conditions in which no water hammer will occur.
• Avoid rapid cooling of the glass as from pouring water on it, etc.
• Installation, inspection, maintenance, repairs, disassembly, adjustment
and valve opening/closing should be carried out only by trained
maintenance personnel.
• Take measures to prevent people from coming into direct contact with
product outlets.
• Install for use under conditions in which no freeze-up will occur.
• As glass parts will wear and deteriorate in quality, they should be
replaced annually.
