b) Setup
• The manual for the remote control system is included separately. Always follow all the safety information
as well as all other information!
• Only use suitable drive rechargeable batteries for the vehicle. Never power the speed controller with a
power adapter, even for test purposes.
• This vehicle is only suitable for two LiPo drive rechargeable batteries with 2 cells (rated voltage 7.4 V)
or 3 cells (rated voltage 11.1 V).
When using a drive rechargeable battery with more cells, there is a danger of fire resulting from the
speed controller overheating. In addition, the vehicle's drive will be overloaded and thus damaged (e.g.
differential). This will void the warranty!
The two drive rechargeable batteries must be identical (same rechargeable battery type, same capacity,
same discharge rate, same manufacturer, same type). Never use different drive rechargeable batteries
together, because there is a risk of fire!
Both drive rechargeable batteries must also have the same state of charge. For example, never connect
a full and a half-full LiPo drive rechargeable battery to the speed controller in order to prevent a deep
discharge that will permanently damage the rechargeable battery.
• When putting the device into operation always turn on the transmitter first. Only then can the drive
rechargeable batteries of the vehicle be connected to the speed controller and the latter be turned on.
Otherwise, the vehicle might react unpredictably.
Proceed as follows:
- Before connecting the drive rechargeable batteries, place the vehicle on a suitable surface so that the
wheels can rotate freely.
- Switch off the speed controller.
- Switch on the remote control. Check that it functions correctly (e.g. transmitter's operating display).
- On the remote control, set the trim for the throttle/brake function to the central position.
- Connect two identical, fully charged drive rechargeable batteries to the speed controller, observing
the correct polarity (the bevelled side of the XT90 connector must be in minus/- position; see marks
on the plugs/sockets).
- Turn on the speed controller. Wait for a few seconds until the speed controller has completed a self-
test.
• Check that the vehicle reacts to the remote control commands as expected (steering and throttle) before
removing it from the support and placing the wheels on the ground.
• If the drive does not perform as expected, follow the instructions in section 14.
