Safety instructions

!
When using lawn mowers, comply with the
following basic safety instructions to protect
against electric shock and the risk of injury:
n
Read and then comply with the operating
manual.
n
Keep the operating manual for subsequent
use or for the next owner.
n
Follow the safety instructions and warnings
on the unit.
Users
n
Children and young people under 16 years
of age who are not familiar with the operating
instructions must not use the unit. Local
regulations may specify the minimum age.
n
Wear long, tight-fitting trousers and non-slip
footwear.
Working area
n
Carefully check the whole of the area which
is to be mown. Remove all foreign objects
such as stones, sticks, wire, bones, etc.
n
Do not use the lawn mower if there are any
persons (caution: children) or animals
(including wildlife) in the working area.
Operating times
n
Observe national operating times for lawn
mowers (noise prevention).
See operating manual for permitted operating
times.
n
Use the lawn mower only in daylight or if the
working area is well illuminated.
Protection from electric shock
n
It is not permitted to operate the lawn mower
without a residual-current-operated circuit-
breaker. Maximum permitted tripping current:
30 mA.
n
Connection cables according to the following
specifications:
Minimum cross-section: 3 x 1.5 mm², not less
tough than ordinary tough rubber-insulated
flexible cables (HO5 RN-F in compliance with
DIN 57282 Part 1/VDE 0282 Part 1) or
a power connection cable which has been
demonstrated to be suitable for use with
lawnmowers.

Plugs and couplings must be made of rubber,

soft PVC or other thermoplastic material with
identical mechanical strength or they must be
covered with this material.
n
The plug-and-socket devices must be splash-
proof.
n
Damaged, brittle or entangled connection
cables are not permitted.
n
The electrical safety of the lawn mower is not
guaranteed if the special screw for attaching
the cutter is damaged.
n
Always guide the connection cable.
Operation
n
Always visually inspect the lawn mower
before use.
n
Damaged or worn parts must be replaced
immediately.
n
Use the unit only in a technical condition
stipulated by the manufacturer.
n
The user of the unit is responsible for any
accidents involving other persons or their
property.
n
Switch off the motor before crossing surfaces
other than the surface which is being mown.
n
Do not start the motor if you are standing in
front of the discharge channel (side discharge
mower).
n
Use the lawn mower on lawns only.
n
Do not disable the safety equipment or
protective equipment on the lawn mower.
n
The cutter must be freely rotatable before the
lawn mower is started. Disengage any drives.
n
If the lawn mower has to be lifted before it can
be started, the cutter must be facing away
from the user.
n
Keep hands and feet away from rotating
parts.
n
The lawn mower may only be used in com-
pliance with the safety distance provided by
the guide handle.
n
Ensure that you have a secure footing.
n
Never lift or carry the lawn mower while the
motor is running. Wait until the cutter has
come to a standstill and pull out the mains
plug.
n
Always cut across a slope. Never mow up or
down slopes or at an incline greater than 15°.
