The pre-milling unit performs a milling of the board that gi-
ves it a high quality finishing as it eliminates any damage or
cracks that the panel may have due to its handling before
proceeding to its edgebanding. The end result is an edgeban-
ding of excellent quality both aesthetically and functionally.
To achieve this, it incorporates 2 milling cutters with 2.5 mm
resharpenable PCD inserts. Their appropriate configuration
and cutting inclinations give in result a
clean, continuous edge without cracks in
the lower and upper melamine layers.
Furthermore, and in combination with
the reciprocating movement and the di-
rections of rotation of the milling cutters
of the pre-milling unit, it's guaranteed
that the edge will not detach from the
opposite faces previously edgebanded.
Finally, the milling of the panel prepares
the surface for highly effective gluing.
The sequence of work is as follows:
When the board enters the working ta-
ble, it activates the lever A (Fig. 3.1) of
the first operating microswitch, which
activates the drag feeder B (Fig. 3.2) and
starts the rotation of the cutters C (Fig.
3.1) of the pre-milling unit. At this time
the board, guided by the support rule D
(Fig. 3.1), will enter the pre-milling unit
where the first cutter E (Fig. 3.3-3.4), in
a counterclockwise direction of rotation,
will rectify the thickness of the panel.
In its forward movement, the panel stops
pressing, and releases, the lever A (Fig.
A
3.3) of the first microswitch, which au-
tomatically starts a timed sequence to
command the cutter change movement.
