Usage
Before initial use
Warning: Before commencing with fishing
inform yourself with regard to national and local
regulations. These instructions describe the current
information on the item.
Fishing is a very versatile sport. Therefore, we
recommend that you read additional expert liter-
ature and/or gather information from clubs and
organisations.
Assembling the fishing rod
Even if the angling set is assembled ready for fish-
ing, you must still check the following points with
regard to its assembly before its initial use. This
ensures safe functioning of the rod and reel.
1. The castor heel (1c) must be inserted into the
reel brackets (1a) and the screw fastener (1b)
must be tightened clock-wise.
2. Put the crank (1g) into the required position
by folding it up. Ensure that the opposite crank
screw (1f) is tight.
3. Loosen the brake (1h) by turning it anti-clock-
wise. Pull enough fishing line (1j) from the reel
(1e) and guide it under the line guide bracket
(1d) through all the rod rings. Tighten the brake
again by turning it clock-wise.
4. Pull the rod out, segment for segment, starting at
the top (see Fig. C).
5. Ensure that the rings of each segment are
aligned (see Fig. D).
Casting bait with an over-the-head
throw
Ensure that the crank screw (1i) is tight. Grip the
rod by the handle, ensuring that the castor wheel
is between your middle and ring fingers.
Your pointing finger grips the fishing line when
the roller lever is still closed, and holds it against
the fishing rod by keeping it down. Open the line
guide bracket and guide the fishing rod past the
head, sideways, to the rear – your free hand grips
the end of the rod handle in this manoeuvre, giving
you additional stability and control.
The fishing line, together with the bait, should not
twist, and the distance between the bait/lead and
top end of the fishing rod should be sufficient to
enable an elegant swing.
