Restarting protection
The restarting protection feature prevents un-
controlled restarting of the machine after an
interruption in the power supply.
To restart the operation, switch the On/Off
switch 6 to the Off position and start the ma-
chine again.
Note: Check the function of the restarting pro-
tection feature regularly by having the mains
plug pulled during operation and plugged in
again afterwards.
Reduced starting current
The electronic reduced starting current limits the
power consumption when switching the tool on
and enables operation from a 16 ampere fuse.
Constant Electronic Control
Constant electronic control holds the speed
constant at no-load and under load, and ensures
uniform working performance.
Overload Protection
When overloaded, the motor comes to a stop.
Relieve the load on the machine immediately
and allow to cool down for approx. 30 seconds
at the highest no-load speed.

Working Instructions

Clamp the workpiece if it does not remain
stationary due to its own weight.
Do not strain the power tool so heavily that
it comes to a standstill.
Do not touch diamond cup wheels before
they have cooled. Diamand cup wheels be-
come very hot while working.
Apply the power tool to the workpiece only
when switched on.
Move the machine with a circular motion or al-
ternately in length and crosswise direction over
the workpiece/surface applying moderate pres-
sure. For removal of coatings, the machine can
also be guided at a small angle to the workpiece
surface without a reduction of the dust extrac-
tion capacity.
Bosch Power Tools

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning
Before any work on the power tool itself,
pull the mains plug.
For safe and proper working, always keep the
power tool and the ventilation slots clean.
In extreme working conditions, conductive
dust can accumulate in the interior of the
power tool when working with metal. The
protective insulation of the power tool can
be degraded. The use of a stationary extrac-
tion system is recommended in such cases
as well as frequently blowing out the venti-
lation slots and installing a ground fault cir-
cuit interrupter (GFCI).
A blunt diamond cup wheel 11 can be reground
by briefly grinding abrasive material (e.g. lime-
sand brick).
Changing the Brush Collar
To ensure optimal dust extraction, change a
worn brush collar 8 in good time.
Using a screwdriver, carefully pry out the brush
collar 8 at the openings of the brush guide with
the diamond cup wheel 11 mounted. Use the di-
amond cup wheel for leverage while prying out.
Carefully push a new brush collar 8 to the stop
into the brush guide. When inserting the new
brush collar, pay attention that the ends of the
brush collar are not positioned in one of the
openings of the brush guide.
Service Indicator 5
When the carbon brushes are worn out, the
power tool switches itself off. This is indicated
approx. 8 hours beforehand by the lighting or
blinking of the service indicator 5. The power
tool must then be sent to an after-sales service
agent. Addresses are listed in the Section
"After-sales Service and Customer Assistance".
If the power tool should fail despite the care
taken in manufacturing and testing procedures,
repair should be carried out by an after-sales
service center for Bosch power tools.
In all correspondence and spare parts orders,
please always include the 10-digit article num-
ber given on the type plate of the power tool.
