Putting into Operation

Ensure that the mains voltage is correct!
The voltage of the power source must agree with the
value given on the nameplate of the machine. Ma-
chines designated for 230 V can also be operated with
220 V.
Switching On/Off
To switch on: Slide the on/off switch 3 forward and
press down until it latches.
To switch off: Press the on/off switch 3 down at the
rear until it springs to the off position.
Speed Selection
Preselect the required speed with the thumbwheel 1
(also while running).
The Constant Electronics maintain the preselected
speed nearly constant also under load.
The required speed is dependent on the material and
can be determined by practical trials (see Application
Table ).
After longer periods of working at low speed, allow the
machine to cool by running for approx. 3 minutes at
maximum speed with no load.
Selection of the Removal Performance
Two operating modes with different removal perform-
ances are available. To change the removal perform-
ance, press the unlocking button 12 and turn the op-
erating mode switch 11 until it can be heard to latch at
the symbol of the desired operating mode.
Do not change the operating mode while sand-
ing! The danger of injury exists.
Operating Mode 1 (Forced Drive)
This operating mode with high material removal is rec-
ommended for the working of very rough, insensitive
surfaces as well as for buffing. As a result of the forced
drive, the sanding plate has constant eccentricity and
rotational movement.
Operating Mode 2 (Free Running)
This operating mode is recommended for the handling
of sensitive surfaces as well as for fine polishing. As a
result of the free running sanding plate, an application
pressure dependent rotational movement at constant
eccentric motion is achieved. By varying the applica-
tion pressure, the material removal can also be regu-
lated.

Working Instructions

Before any work on the machine itself, pull the
s
mains plug.
Removing the Vacuuming Adapter
For working without dust extraction (e.g. polishing),
the vacuuming adapter 4 can be removed. For this
purpose, unscrew the screw 2 with a L-type Allen key
7 (accessory) and pull the vacuuming adapter 4 from
the housing.
To mount the vacuuming adapter, proceed in the re-
verse order. Take care that the vacuuming adapter 4
is properly seated in the housing opening.
Auxiliary Handle
The auxiliary handle 5 can be screwed into the thread-
ed hole 13 optionally on the right or the left.
Sanding Surfaces
Only flawless sanding sheets produce good sanding
performance and protects the machine.
Switch on the machine, place the complete sanding
plate on the surface to be worked and move the ma-
chine over the work piece with moderate pressure.
Ensure uniform sanding pressure. Less sanding pres-
sure increases the sanding capacity and protects the
machine and the sanding tool.
The removal performance and the sanding pattern is
determined essentially by the choice of sanding sheet
(grain), the selected speed, the operating mode and
the application pressure.
Rough Sanding
(Operating modes 1 or 2)
Attach a sanding sheet with coarse grain (see Applica-
tion Table).
Apply only light pressure to the machine so that it runs
at high speed and high material removal is achieved.
Fine Sanding
(Operating mode 2)
Attach a sanding sheet with fine grain (see Application
Table).
By lightly varying the application pressure or changing
the speed setting, the sanding plate speed can be re-
duced whereby the eccentric movement is retained.
With moderate pressure, move the machine in a circu-
lar pattern or alternately in lengthwise and crosswise
directions over the work piece.
Do not tilt the machine to avoid sanding through the
work piece (e.g. when sanding veneer).
After finishing the work, switch off the machine and lift
it from the work piece.
