5. Thermal Insulation Materials
Insulation layers must be constructed from thermal insulation panels of building material class A1 according to DIN 4102
part 1 with an application temperature limit of at least 700 °C and a bulk density of more than 80 kg/m³.
The insulation material must be marked with the corresponding insulation material code number according to AGI-Q 132.
Only insulation materials listed in the following table may be used.
If other insulation materials are employed for the insulation layers, they must have the relevant approval from the German
Institute for Construction Technology (DIBT) such as Promat calcium silicate thermal insulation "Promasil 950 KS",
Wolfshöher thermal insulation "Prowolf", Wolfshöher thermal insulation "Vermilite 2000", and Thermax thermal insulation
"Thermax SN 400".
The exterior walls of buildings and ceilings to be protected with a U-value below 0.4 W/m² require additional rear
ventilation (see Technical Rules of the Furnace and Air Heating Construction Trade).

* Deviating test conditions
Thermal insulation layers must be seamless and overlapping.
If heat insulation materials within the convection area are used for all fireplace inserts without a convection jacket made
of mineral wool, they must be additionally covered in an abrasion-resistant and non-reflecting material (e.g.: with black
plate, steel plate or galvanised plate).
It is essential to ensure that the thermal insulation materials have sufficient temperature resistance (at least 700 °C).
Otherwise, odours may develop during heating.
