OPERATION
NOTCHING A PIPE
NOTICE! Periodically brush away cuttings and debris from the pipe/tube
notcher, especially the bushings and spindle area to avoid scoring or
binding these components.
1.
Loosen the screw (#15) on the bottom of the pipe/tube notcher.
2.
Rotate the pipe/tube vise to the desired position using the angle guide on
the spindle fixed plate (#6). Align the angle with the indicator mark on the
clamp fixed plate (#8).
3.
Tighten the screw (#15) on the bottom of the pipe/tube notcher.
4.
Mount the desired hole saw on the end on the spindle (#3).
5.
Position the pipe in the vise for notching and tighten the vise to secure it.
6.
Mount a 1/2 in. drive hand drill on the spindle. Be sure to carefully align the
drill and the pipe/tube notcher spindle to prevent binding.
7.
Apply a cutting fluid onto the section of pipe that will be notched. This will
prevent the tool or material from overheating and remove cuttings from the
work area.

Follow the recommendation of the hole saw's manufacturer on the use
of cutting/cooling fluids.
8.
When the pipe is clamped in the pipe/tube notcher and the angle is
properly set, you can proceed to cut the workpiece.
9.
Apply steady pressure without binding the saw blade. Apply more cutting
fluid if needed.
OFFSET NOTCHING
1.
Loosen the screw (#15) that holds the fixed shaft (#7) in place with the
clamp fixed plate (#8).
2.
Slide the spindle fixed plate (#6) up to 1-1/4 inches.
3.
Tighten the screw to secure the fixed shaft.
