ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
Numbered references in parenthesis (#1) refer to the included Parts List.
1.
Mount the pipe/tube notcher into a vise. Ensure the spindle (#1) is easily
accessible and long pieces of pipe have enough clearance when in the
pipe/tube notcher.
2.
Check that the spindle travels smoothly without binding against the
bushings (#2). Undue friction will cause excessive wear of the bushings.
3.
Thread a bi-metal hole saw blade with a 1/2 in. arbor onto the spindle.
a.
The 5/8 in. adaptor and washer (#5 and #4) can be screwed onto the
spindle's 1/2 in. thread, if needed for a saw blade with a larger arbor hole.
4.
Adjust the spindle support's (#3) position by loosening the two screws
(#21) under the spindle fixed plate (#6) and sliding the support forward or
backward to fit different lengths of hole saw blades. Tighten the screws
once the position is set.
5.
Adjust the fixed clamp (#12) position by loosening the screws (#15) under
the clamp fixed plate (#8) and moving the clamp nearer or farther from the
spindle fixed plate (#6).
a.
Moving the clamp farther from the spindle fixed plate allows a deeper
angle when notching a pipe.
b.
Moving the clamp nearer to the spindle fixed plate allows better
support and reinforcement of the pipe for shallow angles when
notching a pipe.
