10.4. Replace the paint needle seal
This must be replaced when material leaks from the self-adjusting paint
needle packing.
Dismantle the paint needle seal retainer
■ Proceed with the steps to "Dismantle material nozzle" and "Dismantle
pre-nozzle, hard metal ball tip and paint needle" (see chapter 10.1).
■ Unscrew paint needle seal retainer [11-1] using SATA universal span-
ner [11-3] and socket spanner (size 7) [11-2].
■ Check paint needle seal retainer for damage and soiling, clean or
replace if necessary.
Mount new paint needle seal retainer
■ Secure new paint needle seal retainer [11-1] with Loctite 242 and screw
in using SATA universal spanner [11-3] and socket spanner (size 7)
[11-2].
■ Proceed with the steps to "Mount new pre-nozzle, hard metal ball tip
and paint needle" and "Mount new material nozzle" (see chapter 10.1).
10.5. Replace the air micrometer, air piston and seal retainer
Replacement is necessary if
air escapes at the air cap or air micrometer without actuating the trigger
guard.
Remove the air micrometer, air piston and seal retainer
■ Proceed with the steps to "Dismantle material nozzle" and "Dismantle
pre-nozzle, hard metal ball tip and paint needle" (see chapter 10.1).
■ Proceed with the steps to "Dismantle the trigger guard (see chap-
ter 10.3).
■ Unscrew locking screw [12-1] using Allen key [12-2].
■ Remove air micrometer [13-2].
■ Remove air piston spring [13-1] and air piston head [13-3].
■ Pull air piston rod out [13-4].
■ Unscrew seal retainer [14-1] using Allen key [14-2] (size 4).
■ Check air piston rod after removal; clean if necessary or replace if dam-
aged (e.g. scratched or bent).
Fit a new air micrometer, air piston and seal retainer
