ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
Letter references in parenthesis (A) refer to the included Identification Key.
DANGER! Do not adjust the Max Pressure Limiting Screw. Adjustments can
cause the tool to exceed the safe pressure limit and result in a hydraulic failure
that can cause an injury. Only qualified technicians can adjust this screw.
The log splitter comes assembled with the exception of the support leg (F). Bolt
the support leg to the log splitter.
OPERATION
CAUTION! Do not force the log splitter for more than 5 seconds to split hard
wood. This may damage the tool. Rotate the log 90 degrees and attempt
again. Discard the log if unable to split, as it exceeds the splitting force
capacity of this tool.
1.
Cut the log down to a height of 20-1/2 in. or less to ensure that it will fit
between the wedge and the work table.
2.
Place the log on the work table so the wood grain is aligned with the
wedge. Ensure that the log is stable on the retaining plates (G).
3.
Pull the log against the pusher (B) to
ensure that the pushing force will
remain constant during splitting.
Ensure that the log will be applied
against the wedge's full depth. Splitting
with just the top of the wedge may
damage the wedge (Fig. 2).
4.
Loosen the bleed screw (M) so the
opening is clear of the housing. Do not open too far, as the screw may fall out.
5.
Two hands are required to operate the log splitter. Maintain your hands on
the controls until the log is completely split. The mechanism will stop if
one of the controls is released.
a.
Pull the hydraulic control lever (L) with your left hand.
b.
Press the switch with your right hand (I).
6.
Push the lever into the first position (half way) to quickly advance the
log to the wedge.
