4 Operation
Warning!
Before switching the machine on,
make sure that you observe all safety
instructions.
Switching the paper shredder on
• Set mains switch at rear of paper shredder to
„I".
• Press the on/off button.
Note: You can increase the durability of your
shredder by removing all staples and paperclips
from the paper.
• Feed the paper (no more than
13 sheets at a time) or 1 CD/DVD
or 1 credit card into the centre of
the paper slot.
 The light barrier starts the cutting unit auto-
matically. Therefore, with thin paper strips,
make sure the light barrier detects them.
When the feed opening is clear of paper
again, the cutting device switches off.
Note: If the document shredder is not used for
30 minutes, it switches to energy saving mode.
All displays in the operator control panel will
go out. Pressing the on/off button activates
it again.
Swit ching paper shredder off
• Press the on/off button.
• Set mains switch at rear of paper shredder to
„0".
5 Troubleshooting
Paper jam
You have fed in too much paper.
 If there is a paper jam, the display on
the control unit lights up. The cutting unit
switches to reverse and pushes the paper
out again.
• If the paper has not automatically been
pushed out far enough, press the REV
button to remove it.

• Remove paper scraps from the cutting unit
by briefl y pressing the FWD button.
• Take half the stack of paper.
• Feed the paper in portions.
Shredded material container full
 The display lights up if the cut mate-
rial container is full. The cutting unit is swit-
ched off.
Notice
Empty the cut material container, immediately
because if it is too full, malfunctions can occur
in the cutting system.
• Empty cut material container.
Cutting unit runs continuously
- The light barrier in the paper feed is blocked
with paper. Press the paper through with
a thin strong piece of cardboard.
- The light barrier is soiled with paper dust.
Clean the sensor with air pressure, a dry
paintbrush or a cloth.
Notes
• If the document shredder switches off without
a signal, or will not switch on, check whether
the cut material container is placed correctly
in the base cabinet.
• For all other malfunctions, before calling cus-
tomer service please check if the motor was
overloaded. Let the shredder cool down for
approx. 30 mins. before using it again.
