4. INSTALLATION

If the delivery pipes have a bigger diameter than the pump port, fittings
must be adapted through a concentric reduction for the upwards deliv-
ery, and through an eccentric reduction for the side delivery.
Horizontal pipe sections must have a minimum upward slope of 2%.
A non-return valve should be fitted in the delivery line to isolate the
pump from over-pressure due to water-hammer. A gate valve, butterfly
valve, or ball valve, should be positioned in the delivery line down-stream
from the non-return valve.
PIPING CONNECTION (Fig.25)
ATTENTION!
Before connecting the pipes, they must be
carefully cleaned from dirty and foreign bodies.
Remove any trace of scale if
there are welded parts.
– Check the alignment of the pipe flanges with those of the pump's.
The two facing surfaces must be in parallel, aligned, and must be at
the required distance from the gasket.
– Center the gaskets between the flanges.
– Screw the tie rods/bolts of the flanges.
– Slacken the mounting base bolts allowing the pump unit to align to
the pipe work. This will minimise pump flange and pipe work
loads.
– Re-tighten the mounting base screws.
AUXILIARY CONNECTIONS
For pump auxiliary connections, follow the instructions according to the
installation drawing.
If necessary, pumps can be provided with auxiliary control equipments.
Either on delivery or on suction pipes, pump is provided with connec-
tions for connecting the pressure control devices; other connections,
such as those on the ports for capacity measuring or connections against
packed gland seal fluid leak, must be provided on request.

On request pump auxiliary connections (preassured fluid, drip fluid) are
indicated in the installation drawing for special applications and must be
requested as additional documentation.
