FOR USE
PORTER'S SWITCHBOARD
The unit is made up of a base
module PA/200 which includes the
receiver, control keypad, the
management electronics, one or
more PA/212 call modules, with
memory, for 12 users each, and an
optional PAM/200 monitor module.
The base module and call module
come with a multicore cable
1.70m long with plug attached for
fast coupling with the relevant
sockets.

porter switchboard via selectors
SI/200, the jumper must be set to
ON, figure 2.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING
THE UNIT
Switch the unit on using the
ON/OFF switch, figure 1. After
approx. 1 second, the unit is ready
to work in one of the two operating
modes referred to as DIRECT
mode (NIGHTTIME) and INTER-
CEPT mode (DAYTIME).
DIRECT mode (NIGHTTIME)
Callers can call and converse
directly with the tenants from the
entry panel.
If the entry panel also features the
porter call button, where neces-
sary the caller can also call the
porter (the tenant is out, requests
for information, etc.).
The porter is advised of a call from
the entry panel by an audible
signal and by the luminous green
with
indicator 2 lighting (and the moni-
tor coming on, where fitted).
When the receiver is lifted, the
entry panel is put through to the
switchboard; replacing the recei-
ver on the cradle breaks off the
conversation and DIRECT mode
operation is resumed.
If, following the conversation with
the entry panel, the porter finds he
must call the tenant, the call can
be made immediately without han-
ging up. Once the conversation
with the tenant is finished, the
entry panel is put back through to
the porter by simply pressing the
switchboard's cradle switch actua-
tor 4, figure 1.
INTERCEPT mode (DAYTIME)
Press the INTERCEPT button
figure 1.
In this operating mode, any button
on the entry panel, when pressed
by the caller, causes the call to be
made to the switchboard.
The porter is advised of each call
from the entry panel to the switch-
board by the luminous green indi-
cator 2 lighting (and the monitor
the
entry
coming on, where fitted).
Lifting the receiver puts the entry
panel through to the switchboard.
If one of the extension (tenant) call
buttons is then pressed, the swit-
chboard puts the entry panel on
hold (and the caller is therefore
unable to listen to the conversa-
tion with the extension), and the
switchboard is put through to the
tenant called (the picture of the
caller comes up on his monitor)
who has, in turn, lifted his receiver.
When the conversation with the
tenant is finished, the porter can
resume conversation with the
entry panel by simply pressing the
switchboard's cradle switch actua-
tor 4, figure 1, or can put the caller
at the entry panel through to the
tenant by pressing the transfer
button
(the luminous red indicator 1
lights) and replacing his own
receiver.
The conversation between tenants
and callers keeps the line enga-
ged until the set time has elapsed
(approx. 30÷90 secs.), after which
the switchboard resumes its regu-
lar operation and the luminous red
indicator 1 goes off.
If the entry panel calls the switch-
board whilst the latter is communi-
cating with a tenant (the lighting of
the luminous green indicator 2 illu-
strated in figure 1 and an attenua-
ted call note advise the porter of
the call) does not interrupt the
conversation in progress, which
can only be broken off by the por-
ter who, by pressing the cradle
switch actuator 4, figure 1, puts
himself through to the entry panel.
Calling the extensions
In order to call an extension from
the switchboard, lift the receiver
and press the desired call button.
The call note when the switch-
board is calling the extensions is
different to that advising of a call
from the entry panel (second note
generated by the power supplier
VA/200).
The volume of incoming call
signals to the switchboard can be
controlled by means of potentio-
meter 5, figure 1.
If a surveillance camera is instal-
led in the porter's lodge, the tenant
called by the porter will see the
relevant picture on his monitor.
The tenant can also call the porter:
this generates a call note and cau-
ses the luminous red indicator
relating to the extension making
the call to light.
In order to answer a call from an
extension via the switchboard, lift
the receiver and press the corre-
sponding call button; the red indi-
cator goes off.

In the case of residential installa-
tions, if the call is addressed to a
tenant in an engaged block, the
call causes the luminous red indi-
cator 1, figure 1, to light for a
moment, and the luminous red
indicator of the tenant remains lit
until the call is attended to.
All the calls from the extensions
are stored by the switchboard and
indicated by the lighting of the
relevant red indicators 6, figure 1.
