Important!
The surveillance cameras are pre-set to "AHD" ex works. You therefore do not need to correct the settings
if you connect them to the enclosed digital recorder.
In the operating mode "CVBS", the camera supplies an analogue standard PAL or NTSC video signal that can be
displayed on any conventional surveillance screen and that can be recorded on older digital recorders.
In operating modes "AHD", "CVI" and "TVI", the camera supplies a high-resolution video signal that offers a much
better picture quality than "CVBS". However, you need a special digital recorder to view and record this high-resolution
video signal (e.g. the enclosed surveillance recorder for "AHD").
The recording of a video signal in the operating modes "AHD", "CVI" or "TVI" with a conventional analogue
digital recorder (which only has CVBS video inputs) is not possible.
You also cannot connect the digital camera directly to a surveillance screen in the operating modes "AHD",
"CVI" or "TVI".
If you want to operate a surveillance camera on a screen with CVBS input for test purposes (without detour
through the digital recorder, e.g. to align or adjust the camera), you need to set the operating mode "CVBS"
in the surveillance camera. Otherwise, you will only see disturbances (or no image at all) on the screen.
The benefit of the modern operating modes "AHD", "CVI" and "TVI" is that you can transmit high-resolution video
signals via a present coax-cable with them. Therefore, it is sufficient to replace old surveillance cameras and digital
recorders with modern devices (with "AHD", "CVI" or "TVI"). The difficult installation of new cables is not required.
If there is a video amplifier or video switch in the cable connection, such devices must be suitable for the
high-resolution signals as well. Otherwise, no image can be transferred.
Proceed as follows to select an operating mode:
• Connect the surveillance camera to the external power supply and the digital recorder (or a surveillance screen).
You may now see no picture or only interferences, such as stripes running through.
• Move the control lever in one of the four directions and hold it there for at least 5 seconds to select the desired
operating mode.
"CVBS" Move control lever towards "R"
"AHD"
Move control lever towards "UP"
"CVI"
Move control lever towards "DOWN"
"TVI"
Move control lever towards "L"
• If you release the control lever after at least 5 seconds, the surveillance camera will switch to the operating mode.
The new operating mode is now saved.
Important!
If you want to choose another operating mode, you need to interrupt the power supply of the surveillance
camera for a few seconds for reasons of safety and then reconnect it. Then proceed as described above to
switch the operating mode again.
The enclosed surveillance recorder requires the operating mode "AHD" to be set.
