2 Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to all relevant directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
WARNING The unit uses dangerous mains volt-
age. Leave servicing to skilled person-
nel only and do not insert anything
into the air vents. Inexpert handling
may result in electric shock.
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect
it against dripping water and splash water, high
air humidity and heat (admissible ambient tem-
perature range 0 – 40 °C).
Do not place any vessel filled with liquid on the
unit, e. g. a drinking glass.
The heat generated inside the unit must be dis-
sipated by air circulation; never cover the air
vents of the housing.
Do not operate the unit and immediately discon-
nect the mains plug from the socket
1. if the unit or the mains cable is visibly dam-
aged,
2. if a defect might have occurred after the unit
was dropped or suffered a similar accident,
3. if malfunctions occur.
In any case, the units must be repaired by skilled
personnel.
* This function is only available when playing multi-audio
media (see chapter 6).
A damaged mains cable must be replaced by
skilled personnel only.
Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the
mains plug from the socket; always seize the
plug!
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
chemicals or water.
No guarantee claims for the unit and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material
damage will be accepted if the unit is used for
other purposes than originally intended, if it is
not correctly connected or operated, or if it is
not repaired in an expert way.
Important for UK Customers!
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in ac -
cord ance with the follow ing code:
green / yellow = earth
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead
of this appliance may not correspond with the
coloured markings identifying the terminals in
your plug, proceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow
must be con nected to the terminal in the plug
which is mark ed with the letter E or by the
earth symbol
and yellow.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with
the letter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be
con nected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter L or coloured red.
Warning – This appliance must be earthed.
If the unit is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful
to the environment.
3 Application
The amplifier is specially designed for Karaoke and
offers special features for this purpose. It allows
connection of three microphones. By means of the
digital echo circuit, an echo effect can be added
to your individual vocals.
4 Setting up
The amplifier can be set up on its own or installed
in a rack for units with a width of 482 mm (19"). To
ensure sufficient cooling, air must always be able
to flow freely through all air vents.
.

4.1 Installation into a rack

In the rack, the amplifier requires a height of 1 RS
(rack space = 44.45 mm). Fasten the two mounting
brackets supplied with the amplifier to the left
and right sides of the housing and then install
the amplifier into the rack. For a safe installation
of the amplifier, lateral rails or a bottom plate are
recommended.
The hot air given off by the amplifier must be
dissipated from the rack; otherwise, heat will accu-
mulate in the rack which may not only damage the
amplifier but also other units in the rack. In case
of insufficient heat dissipation, install a ventilation
unit into the rack.
5 Connection
Prior to connecting any units or to changing any
ex isting connections, switch off the amplifier and
the units connected.
1) Connect the microphones to the jacks MIC (12).
2) Connect the line outputs of the players (e. g. CD
player, video CD player or DVD player) to the
RCA jacks (13). The optimum units are able to
play graphic CDs (marked by "CD+G" or "CDG")
so that the lyrics can be read from a monitor
connected.
Important: When using multi-audio media (see
chapter 6), never confuse the right channel
(red jack R) with the left channel (white jack L)
, or coloured green or green
when connecting the player, otherwise, the mul-
tiplex function will not be available.
3) Connect the speaker systems to the terminals
SPEAKER (15) [RIGHT = right channel, LEFT = left
channel]. The impedance of the speakers must
not fall below 4 Ω; otherwise, the amplifier may
be damaged. When connecting, always connect
the marked core of the speaker cable to the red
terminal to prevent reverse polarity and signal
cancellation.
4) For sound recordings of the Karaoke presenta-
tion, connect a recorder to the RCA jacks REC
(14). Alternatively, an additional amplifier for
PA application of larger zones can also be con-
nect ed to these jacks.
5) Finally connect the mains plug of the connection
cable (17) to a mains socket (230 V/ 50 Hz).
6 Operation
CAUTION Never adjust a very high volume. Per-
manent high volumes may damage
your hearing! Your ear will get accus-
tomed to high volumes which do not
seem to be that high after some time.
Therefore, do not further increase a
high volume after getting used to it.
Note: It is recommended to use audio media such
as graphic CDs, video CDs and Karaoke DVDs where
the lyrics have also been stored and can be read
from a monitor. Some Karaoke CDs and DVDs
are recorded in the multiplex procedure (multi-
audio CDs) which allows to select either a repro-
duction with vocals (for practising) or without
vocals (Karaoke version).
1) To prevent loud switching noise, set the control
VOLUME (4) to "0" before switching on the unit.
2) Switch on the amplifier with the POWER switch
(1). The red LED above the button DVD (5) lights
up. The unit at the input DVD (13) is selected.
If re quired, select another unit with the input
selector switches (5).
3) Switch on the units connected and start the
music re production. Adjust the volume with
the control VOLUME. It is displayed on the level
indication (11).
4) With audio media not recorded in the multiplex
procedure, do not press the buttons 1 TOUCH
KARAOKE (2) and VOCAL PARTNER (3); other-
wise, only the right stereo channel will be repro-
duced or the reproduction will be in mono only.
When playing multi-audio media, use the but-
ton 1 TOUCH KARAOKE for selection:
– Reproduction with original vocals (for prac-
tising): do not press the button
– Reproduction without original vocals:
press the button
However, it is also possible to replace the original
voice automatically by your own voice only for
the moment when you sing into the microphone.
For this purpose, press the button VOCAL PART-
NER. This will allow you e. g. to sing alternately
with the interpreter if you wish to sing only cer-
tain pas sages of the song. For this function, the
button 1 TOUCH KARAOKE must not be pressed.
5) Adjust an optimum sound with the controls
TREBLE (7) and BASS (6) and the stereo bal ance
with the control BALANCE (8).
6) Mix the microphone signals to the music signal
with the controls MIC 1 – 3 (9). Always set the
controls of the microphones which are not used
to "0".
7) It is possible to add an echo effect to the voices
picked up by the microphones: Advance the
control ECHO (10) until the desired intensity of
the echo is reached.
