5 Preparing the product for use
CAUTION
Incorrect alignment or assembly
Risk of injury due to damaged prosthetic components
► Observe the alignment and assembly instructions.
5.1 Determining length and position
The position and length of the prosthesis are determined on the patient. The
prosthesis is assembled temporarily for this purpose, and the patient tries it
on. During this trial fitting, the dimensions of the prosthesis are adjusted and
then corrected.

1) Temporarily assemble the prosthesis (prosthetic shoulder joint/prosthetic
socket up to terminal device).
2) Perform the trial fitting on the patient.
Unilateral fitting
► Determine the dimensions of the prosthesis on the basis of the dimen­
sions of the contralateral side. Use the pivot point of the elbow joint and
the distal end of the middle finger as a reference.
Bilateral fitting
► Determine the dimensions of the prostheses to achieve the maximum
function and flexibility for the patient.
5.2 Upper arm fitting
The 12R6=* modular kit is used for prosthetic upper arm fittings of patients
with various residual limb lengths. The 13R6 adapter can be attached for
long residual limbs.
Optional: replacing the adapter
Tools required:

Torque wrench (adjustable to0.5 Nm)
1) Unscrew the set screw that secures the proximal tube to the modular
elbow joint. Pull the tube off the modular elbow joint.
