the servo output arms and the horn lugs and adjust them so that each control surface
is at neutral (centre) when the corresponding servo is also at centre.
The tailplane panels can now be glued to the fuselage using the aluminium joiner
tube.
Remove the covering film from the joint faces of the two tailplane root ribs, as
described for the fin installation.
Slip the joiner tube through the holes in the fuselage, and set it central (projecting by
an equal amount on both sides). Apply white glue (UHU Wood Glue Express) to the
root ribs of both tailplane panels, then push the panels firmly against the fuselage.
Check that they make good contact over the full area of the root ribs, and wipe off
excess adhesive.
The tailwheel unit is installed next: use a pointed instrument to locate the two screw-
holes in the underside of the fuselage, and pierce the covering film at those points.
Attach the tailwheel unit to the fuselage using two M3 screws.
The tailwheel is required to deflect when the rudder is operated, and this is
accomplished by connecting the two tension springs supplied in the kit to the rudder
horns and the tailwheel unit, as shown in the photo.
The pull-pull cables which actuate the rudder, and the two elevator pushrods, can
now be prepared and installed as shown in the photos.
Measure off the required length for the two elevator pushrods, as described for the
aileron linkages, and assemble the pushrods. Install the rudder cables by first
clamping them to the rudder horns using the metal crimp sleeves as shown. Connect
two clevises to the servo output lever, thread the cables through the ring-screws,
place them under light tension and crimp the metal sleeves onto them in the same
way. The length of the rudder cables can be fine-tuned by screwing the clevises in or
out on the threaded couplers.
Assembling and installing the fueltank
Cut a piece of silicone fuel tubing and push it onto the fueltank clunk weight. Push
the free end of the fuel tubing onto one of the tubes in the fueltank stopper, and
check that the clunk will be able to move freely inside the tank without binding or
jamming when the stopper is in place. Use a heat-gun or a match to heat the
projecting plastic tubes slightly; this will soften them, so that they can be curved to
the shape shown in the illustration. Check that one pipe points down (filler line) and
one up (vent line; this is the overflow when you are filling the tank). Extend these two
tubes with silicone fuel tubing so that they reach the top and bottom of the tank. Push
the stopper into the tank and tighten the cross-point clamping screw. Ensure that the
screw is tight enough to seal the fueltank completely. You can check this by holding
the tank under water: blow into the tubes and watch carefully: if bubbles rise, there is
a leak which must be sealed.
