PRELIMINARY INSPECTION and STARTING
Before starting the electric pump, carry out a final check on electrical equipement and relative settings.
Inspection personnel must be vaccinated against diseases that can be contracted due to wounds, contact, inhalation.
If it's necessary to inspect the tank, the personnel must efficiently ventilate the room so that ther's adequate oxygen.
Ensure that there aren't toxic gases and that there is no risk of explosion before welding or using an electric tool. Ensure
the escape route for a quick return to the open environment.
Before intervening, make sure that pump is properly cleaned; observe all the necessary precautions for maximum
personal hygiene: waterproof apron, rubber gloves, safety goggles, mask. Follow the local provisions.
Use a helmet, a belt, a safety rope and, if necessary, a gas mask; avoid ignoring the danger of drowning. In any case,
never work alone.
Never put hands or tools into pump suction opening: before any check, make sure that power supply is disconnected.
Before proceeding with with electrical connection, check that the impeller isn't blocked.
Before immersion, with a short impulse and in conditions of maximum safety, check that the direction of rotation of the
pump is the same as that indicated by the arrow on the top of the motor (clockwise if viewed from the motor side): if
the rotation direction is wrong, it is necessary to reverse two phases.
During the check, do not hold the pump by the handle: the recoil that occurs at start-up represents a danger to the
safety of the personnel in charge!
Pay attention to the risks from electrical faults. Check the efficiency of the grounding and the degree of insulation of the
motor before subjecting it to tests. When the motor is functioning, check that the current never exceeds the rating plate
data and that the supply voltage does not exceed 5% more than the nominal value.
MAINTENANCE and OPERATING CHECKS
It is essential to switch off the electric power before checking or maintenance operations, making sure that it can not
inadvertently be reconnected. Do not use the pump if the electric cable is damaged, even if with small cuts of the
outer sheath!
PERIODIC CHECKS
The pump must be inspected after 2000 hours of working or at least once a year. Hard working conditions or occasional
use require necessary frequent checks.
Carefully check the condition of the cables and cable glands. Ensure that the end of cable is protected and not
submerged in the liquid, to avoid infiltration.
Check that the external parts (shackles, chains, handles, guide pipes) are intact, and that the screws and nuts are tight.
Confirm that pipes and valves have not leaks clogs. Check that the noise level of the bearings meets the optimal
conditions of the first start-up. Verify that the motor insulation is above 1 MΩ.
Check that the wear of the pump body, impeller, diffuser, ring and guide hook does not compromise the performance of
the machine. If the impeller is worn, it could have cutting edges and blades: pay attention and use special work gloves.
Check the oil in the sealed chamber for traces of liquid or emulsions.
REPLACEMENT OF THE IMPELLER
-
unscrew the fixing screws and extract the motor unit
-
place the motor unit horizontally and blocking it with wedges so that it does not roll
-
lock the impeller with a clip or large screwdriver between the blades, then unscrew the locking screw and remove
the washer; if the impeller is blocked, use a rubber hammer to beat
-
remove the key from the shaft, then remove the impeller, if necessary using two levers on the back
-
clean and grind the end of the shaft, the key and the impeller hole with emery cloth
-
grease the shaft end, reinsert the key in its seat checking that the groove hole in the impeller is aligned with the key
-
mount the impeller and washer and tighten the fixing screw keeping the impeller with a screwdriver or a clip
-
reposition the motor unit vertically on the pump body and tighten the fixing screws
PROCEDURE FOR OIL CHANGE
-
unscrew the fixing screws and extract the motor unit
-
unscrew the oil cap and replace always the o-ring on it
-
placing the pump horizontally, drain the oil into a container to check it
-
fill up new oil with viscosity 10cst (SAE 10W);
-
reassemble in reverse order
If the mechanical seal has failed, the oil chamber may be under pressure: to avoid
splashes, hold a cloth on the oil cap and unscrew carefully. Do not dispose of used oil in
the environment, deliver it to appropriate collection centers.
