Maintenance

NOTE!
Before commencing any maintenance work disconnect the elec-
trical power supply by pulling out the plug.
Even with the machine switched off, do not handle the area round
the clipper blades as long as the machine is still connected to a
power source. Whenever working on the clipper blades/clipper
head, always first disconnect the power supply.

Cleaning

Cleaning the clipper head and clipper blades

After finishing the shearing, remove oil from the machine by wiping with a
dry cloth and carefully clean the clipper head and clipper blades with a dry
brush. Then oil the parts to prevent rusting. Even the smallest rust spots on
the clipper blades impair shearing or make it completely impossible.
4.2

Mounting the clipper blades

A pair of clipper blades consists of a lower blade (Fig. 5, item 2) and upper
blade (Fig. 5, item 1). When mounting the blades, make sure that the cor-
rect surfaces are placed on top of each other. The blades are mounted as
follows:
Loosen the adjusting head (Fig. 6) and place the machine on a hard
X
surface so that the blade fixing screws are facing upwards.
Loosen the comb plate screws (Fig. 7) and remove the two old blades.
X
Make sure that the new clipper blades are clean. In particular, make
X
sure that the sanded surfaces are free of dirt. Otherwise, satisfactory
shearing performance cannot be achieved even with newly sharpened
clipper blades.
Place the new upper blade in the guide tips of the pivot lever, then put a
X
few drops of oil on the ground surfaces (Fig. 8). Now slide the new lower
blade between the loosened screws (Fig. 9).
It is now important that you place the blades on top of each other so that
X
the ground surface of the lower blade protrudes approx. 1.5 - 2.0 mm
above the tips of the upper blade (Fig. 10).
Once you have adjusted the clipper blades, fix the position of the lower
X
blade and tighten the comb plate screws firmly.
4.3

Regrinding the clipper blades

Only work with sharp blades, replace blunt or defective blades without
teeth. The correct resharpening of blades is only to do by special machines
or by a specialist. In that case, contact your service centre.
