6.0 Fall Clearance and Acceptable Work Zones

Fall clearance must be maintained for the attached self-retracting lifeline (SRL). To determine fall clearance for an application, visit www.mil-
lerfallprotection.com/fallclearance. For the purposes of calculating fall clearance, the connection height of the SRL is measured from the work
platform and the work radius is measured from the SRL's connection point. Therefore, the maximum work radius from the anchor point is 9 feet
(2.7m), and the connection height can range from 6 feet to 14 feet (1.8m to 4.3m). Always account for swing fall in terms of both the additional
free fall that will be present, and the possibility of striking obstacles due to lateral movement during fall. Swing fall should always be limited if
possible and the user must at all times be aware of the possible free fall associated with work at a particular location. Special calculations may
The fall clearance offered online is the amount that can occur in the event that motion toward the connection point is not restricted by the edge
of a vehicle or other obstacle, and therefore the maximum free fall due to swing fall should occur only in rare circumstances. Each application of

information provided with the self-retracting lifeline.
2. Use the pre-attached tagline to lower the self-retracting lifeline snap hook. Detach tagline clip from snap hook; then connect snap hook
onto harness back D-ring. Ensure that snap hook is properly connected--closed and locked. Refer to the instructions provided with the
connecting device. Make sure free hanging end of tagline is out of the way of the system and worker.
3. Once securely attached, the user may proceed to move about within the recommended work zones for the application (see Fig. 3b,
Fig. 4, and 6.0 Fall Clearance and Acceptable Work Zones).
4. When work is complete, disconnect self-retracing lifeline snap hook from harness back D-ring and reattach tagline.
