HSM2955 1.0 User Guide
The HSM2955 Audio Verification Module enables
you to listen and talk through your alarm panel
from any touch-tone phone.
Call-in Options
The HSM2955 must be set up by your installer to
use one of the following access methods:
Number of rings : The HSM2955 answers an
incoming call after a programmed number of
rings.
Double- call : The HSM2955 answers only after
receiving two calls within a programmed time.
This method is used if you have an answering
machine or a fax on your telephone line.
Calling In
1. Call the HSM2955 from an external touch- tone
phone.
2. If using the double- call method, let the phone
ring several times, hang up and then call again.
3. When the HSM2955 answers, you will hear
beeps to indicate initial access.
4. Enter your 4- or 6- digit user code (default:
1234/123456). After a valid code is accepted,
you will hear a distinctive set of tones that lets
you know your session is active.
To change your user access code, please refer to
your alarm system user manual.
5. Upon session start, the HSM2955 automatically
enters listen- only mode. The session lasts 2
minutes but may be extended. See the chart

This End User License Agreement ("EULA") is a legalagreement betweenYou (the company,
individualor entity who acquiredthe Software and any related Hardware) and Digital Security
Controls, a division of Tyco Safety Products Canada Ltd. ("DSC"), the manufacturer of the
integratedsecurity systems and thedeveloper of thesoftwareandany relatedproducts or com-
ponents ("HARDWARE") whichYouacquired.
If the DSC software product ("SOFTWARE PRODUCT"or "SOFTWARE") is intended to
beaccompaniedby HARDWARE, andis NOT accompaniedby new HARDWARE, You may
not use, copy or install the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT
includes computer software, andmay includeassociatedmedia, printedmaterials, and"online" or
electronic documentation.
Any softwareprovidedalongwith theSOFTWARE PRODUCT that is associatedwitha sep-
arateenduser licenseagreement is licensedtoYouunder theterms of that licenseagreement.
By installing, copying, downloading, storing, accessing or otherwise using the SOFTWARE
PRODUCT, You agree unconditionally to be bound by the terms of this EULA, even if this
EULA is deemed to be a modification of any previous arrangement or contract. If You do not
agreetothe terms of this EULA, DSC is unwillingtolicense theSOFTWARE PRODUCT to
You, andYouhavenoright touseit.
SOFTWARE PRODUCT LICENSE
TheSOFTWARE PRODUCT is protectedby copyright laws andinternationalcopyright treat-
ies, as wellas other intellectualproperty laws and treaties. TheSOFTWARE PRODUCT is
licensed, not sold.
1. GRANT OF LICENSE. This EULA grants Youthefollowingrights:
(a) SoftwareInstallationandUse- For eachlicenseYouacquire, You may haveonly onecopy of
theSOFTWARE PRODUCT installed.
(b) Storage/Network Use- TheSOFTWARE PRODUCT may not beinstalled, accessed, dis-
played, run, sharedor usedconcurrently on or fromdifferent computers, includinga workstation,
terminalor other digital electronic device("Device"). In other words, if Youhave several work-
stations, Youwillhave toacquirealicense for eachworkstationwhere theSOFTWARE will be
used.
(c) Backup Copy - You may make back up copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, but You
may only have onecopy per licenseinstalled at any given time. Youmay use theback up copy
solely for archivalpurposes. Except as expressly providedinthis EULA, Youmay not otherwise
makecopies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, including the printed materials accompanying
theSOFTWARE.
2. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS
(a) Limitations on ReverseEngineering, Decompilation andDisassembly - Youmay not reverse
engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, except and only to the
extent that such activity is expressly permittedby applicablelaw notwithstandingthis limitation.
Youmay not makeany changes or modifications totheSoftware, without thewritten permission
of anofficer of DSC. Youmay not removeany proprietary notices, marks or labels fromtheSoft-
wareProduct. Youshallinstitute reasonablemeasures toensure compliancewiththeterms and
conditions of this EULA.
(b) Separationof Components - TheSOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensedas asingle product.
Its component parts may not beseparatedfor useonmorethanoneHARDWARE unit.

(c) Single INTEGRATED PRODUCT - If You acquired this SOFTWARE with
HARDWARE, then the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed withthe HARDWARE as a
singleintegratedproduct. Inthis case, theSOFTWARE PRODUCT may only beusedwiththe
HARDWARE as set forthinthis EULA.
(d) Rental- Youmay not rent, leaseor lendtheSOFTWARE PRODUCT. Youmay not makeit
availabletoothers or post it onaserver or website.
(e) SoftwareProduct Transfer - You may transfer allof Your rights under this EULA only as part
of apermanent saleor transfer of theHARDWARE, providedYouretainnocopies, Youtransfer
allof theSOFTWARE PRODUCT (includingallcomponent parts, themediaandprintedmater-
ials, any upgrades andthis EULA), andprovidedtherecipient agrees totheterms of this EULA. If
theSOFTWARE PRODUCT is an upgrade, any transfer must also includeallprior versions of
theSOFTWARE PRODUCT.
(f) Termination- Without prejudicetoany other rights, DSC may terminate this EULA if You fail
tocomply withtheterms andconditions of this EULA. Insuchevent, Youmust destroy all copies
of theSOFTWARE PRODUCT andallof its component parts.
(g) Trademarks - This EULA does not grant Youany rights inconnectionwithany trademarks or
servicemarks of DSC or its suppliers.
3. COPYRIGHT
Alltitleandintellectual property rights in andtotheSOFTWARE PRODUCT (includingbut not
limitedtoany images, photographs, andtext incorporated intotheSOFTWARE PRODUCT),
the accompanying printed materials, and any copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, are
owned by DSC or its suppliers. You may not copy the printed materials accompanying the
SOFTWARE PRODUCT. Alltitle and intellectualproperty rights in and tothe content which
may beaccessedthroughuseof theSOFTWARE PRODUCT aretheproperty of the respect-
ivecontent owner andmay beprotectedby applicablecopyright or other intellectualproperty laws
andtreaties. This EULA grants Younorights tousesuchcontent. Allrights not expressly granted
under this EULA arereservedby DSC andits suppliers.
4. EXPORT RESTRICTIONS
Youagree that You willnot export or reexport theSOFTWARE PRODUCT to any country,
person, or entity subject toCanadianexport restrictions.
5. CHOICE OF LAW: This Software License Agreement is governed by the laws of the
Provinceof Ontario, Canada.
6. ARBITRATION
Alldisputes arisinginconnectionwiththis Agreement shallbedeterminedby finalandbindingarbit-
rationinaccordancewiththeArbitration Act, andtheparties agree tobeboundby the arbitrator's
decision. The place of arbitration shall be Toronto, Canada, and thelanguage of the arbitration
shallbeEnglish.
7. LIMITED WARRANTY
(a) NO WARRANTY
DSC PROVIDES THE SOFTWARE "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY. DSC DOES
NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR
THAT OPERATION OF THE SOFTWARE WILLBE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-
FREE.
(b) CHANGES IN OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
DSC shallnot be responsiblefor problems causedby changes in theoperatingcharacteristics of
theHARDWARE, or for problems in the interaction of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT with
non-DSC-SOFTWARE or HARDWARE PRODUCTS.
(c) LIMITATION OF LIABILITY; WARRANTY REFLECTS ALLOCATION OF RISK
