Troubleshooting Guide
If the unit does not perform properly when operated as instructed in this Owner's Manual, check the unit consulting the following checklist.
Problem
No power
No sound or picture
Distorted picture
Completely distorted picture or
black/white picture with DVD
No sound or distorted sound
No audio at digital output
Picture freezes momentarily during
playback.
Disc can't be played.
No return to start-up screen when
disc is removed.
The unit does not respond to
the remote control.

• Some functions are not available in specific modes, but this is not a malfunction. Read the description in this Owner's
Manual for more details on correct operations.
• Playback from a desired track and random playback are not available during program playback.
• Some functions are prohibited on some discs.
• When playing Video CDs with PBC function, some operations (e.g., select and track repeat) cannot be performed.

– C heck if the AC power cord is properly connected.
– U nplug the outlet once, and wait for 5-10 seconds and then plug it in again.
– C heck if the TV is switched on.
– C heck the video connection.
– C heck the VIDEO/AUDIO cable connections to the TV.
(See page 7.)
– S ometimes a small amount of picture distortion may appear.
This is not a malfunction.
– C onnect the unit directly to the TV.
– S et PROGRESSIVE correctly. Turn it on only if your TV has Progressive Scan and you are
using the Component Video connections between the unit and the TV. Disable Progressive
Scan for all other connections. (See page 7.)
– C onnect the unit directly to the TV.
– M ake sure the disc is compatible with the unit.
–Check if the INTERLACE / PROGRESSIVE mode is set correctly. (See pages 16-18.)
– A djust the volume.
– C heck that the speakers are connected correctly.
– C heck the digital connections.
– C heck if the audio format of the selected audio language matches your receiver capabilities.
– C heck the disc for finger prints/scratches and clean with a soft cloth wiping from center to edge.
– C lean the disc.
– E nsure the disc is inserted in correct direction.
– C heck if the disc is defective by trying another disc.
– C ancel the parental lock or change the control level.
– I nsert a correct disc that plays on this unit.
– H andle a disc with special care so that it does not have fingerprints, scratches, or dusts on its surface.
– R eset the unit by switching the unit off, then on again.
– A im the remote control directly at the sensor on the front of the unit.
– R educe the distance to the unit.
– R eplace the batteries in the remote control.
– R e-insert the batteries with their polarities (+/– signs) as indicated.
– T une your radio to an empty AM station so that you hear a lot of noises. Then, turn the volume
up. If you hear some signal sound from the radio by pressing buttons on the remote control, the
remote control is working.
– T o completely reset the unit, unplug the AC cord from the AC outlet for 5-10 seconds.
– O perations may not be permitted by the disc. Refer to the instructions of the disc.
– U se a commonly available cleaning CD / DVD to clean the lens before sending the unit for
repair.
– T he angle cannot be switched for DVDs which do not contain multiple angles. In some cases
multiple angles are only recorded for specific scenes.
– C heck the "PARENTAL" setting.
– E nter the default password "477", then your forgotten password will be cleared.
