Lighting The Burner

INSTASTART™ Electronic Ignition
1. Push and turn control knob 90 degrees
counterclockwise to open then push igniter button
repeatedly until burner lights. (Fig. 36 and Fig. 37)
NOTE: If igniter fails to light grill, use match to light
burner. See match light instructions. If the grill is wet,
the igniter may not spark.
2. Adjust flame with control knobs.

■ If the igniter does not spark, turn counterclockwise to
open battery cover and replace with a new battery.

■ Install a new battery in the correct orientation as shown
on the battery cover. (Fig. 39)
Match Lighting
1. Strike and place the burning long wooden match (or use
the match extension or a butane lighter with extension)
through the spaces in the grill grates near the ports of
the burner. (Fig. 40)
2. Push and turn control knob 90 degrees
counterclockwise to open burner.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to light the second burner.
Use a LONG wooden match or a butane lighter with
an extension. If a long-reach match or lighter is not
accessible, use the match extension. Insert a match in the
holder end of the extension, strike and place the burning
match near the BURNER being operated.
