3.1 Operation
If there is one, remove the plastic insulating strip by pulling it from the battery compartment lid of
the scale and the height calculator and remove the protective film from the batteries, then insert
them the correct way round. If the scale does not function, remove the batteries completely and
then replace them.
Your scale is equipped with a "low battery indicator". If you operate the scale with
flat batteries, "Lo 2" will appear on the display and the scale will automatically
switch itself off. In this case, the batteries in the scale must be replaced
(2 x CR2032). If "Lo 1" appears in the display, the batteries of the height
calculator must be changed. (2 x AAA 1.5 V micro).
If the scale does not function, change the batteries. Change the height cal-
culator batteries if it does not beep when taking height measurements (ex-
ception: the height calculator does not beep when you hold it horizontally).
The empty, completely flat batteries should be disposed of by means of
specially designated collection boxes, recycling points or via electronics retailers. You are legally
required to dispose of the batteries.
Tip: You will find these symbols on batteries containing contaminants: Pb = batte-
ries contain lead, Cd = batteries contain cadmium, Hg = batteries contain mercury.
Please dispose of the device in accordance with the EC directive on old electric and
electronic devices 2002/96/EC – WEEE ("Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment").
If you have queries, please contact the appropriate local authorities.
3.2. Only measuring weight
Place the scale on an even, hard surface (no carpet);
a hard surface is crucial to accurate measurements.
Step carefully onto the scale, distributing your weight equally
across both legs. The scale begins to take measurements straight away. After
the display has flashed twice, the final measurement is displayed (Fig. 1). If you
step off the weighing area, the scale switches off after 10 seconds.
3.3 Calculating weight and BMI
Stand still on the scale with equal weight distribution until your weight is displayed (Fig. 2). The scale
flashes twice to indicate that your weight has been measured.
Position the height calculator on the middle of your head, with the thin end pointing forwards
and the button pointing upwards.
Press the button on the height calculator once (do not keep the button pressed down).
It will then begin to beep (Fig. 3).
Look straight ahead.
Use the height calculator to find a horizontal position. Keep the thicker end on your head (Fig. 4).
As soon as you have found a horizontal position, the beeping will stop.
Remain in this position for about 5 seconds. (Fig. 5)
The scale beeps and signals that the height has been measured (Fig. 6).
The measurement has now been taken and you may put the pole aside.
The scale alternately displays your weight, your BMI and your height.
Tip: The BMI can only be calculated if the weight has been correctly measured.
The arrow functions on the right-hand edge of the display and the colour chart on the device
show which area the recorded BMI values fall into.
You can now step off the scale. The scale switches off automatically after 10 seconds.
