MaxiSlide™s using the unravelling
technique
Some patients may not be suitable for rolling, for
example when they are in pain, or due to their size.
In this instance, this technique may be used to insert
two full length MaxiSlide ™ sheets. The technique
is first shown as a detail without the patient so it is
easier to see what is happening.
Place both MaxiSlide ™ sheets together lengthwise.
Fold the two MaxiSlide ™ sheets into 6-8" folds and
then turn them over so that the folds are underneath.
having
ultra-low
friction
Hold both MaxiSlide ™ sheets with your outside
hand to secure them and, with the inside hand palm
up, unravel each fold, taking care to keep your hand
in contact with the bed. Do not lift upwards.
Unravelling the folds of the sheets away from the
patient prevents skin shear.
