11.6 CARE OF GLASS

DO NOT CLEAN GLASS WHEN HOT! DO NOT USE
ABRASIVE CLEANERS TO CLEAN GLASS.
Buff lightly with a clean dry soft cloth to remove accumulated
dust or fi ngerprints. Clean both sides of the glass after the
fi rst 10 hours of operation with a recommended fi replace
glass cleaner. NOTE: Vinegar-based or ammonia-free
glass cleaners have generally demonstrated an ability
to provide a clean, streak free glass surface. Thereafter
clean as required. If the glass is not kept clean permanent discoloration and / or blemishes may result.
Do not contact the inside surface of the glass with razor blades, steel wool or other metallic objects as a thin
layer of metal removed from the object may be deposited onto the coating which results in a discoloured stain
or scratch like mark. Such marks are not removed using the normal cleaning procedures given but require
specialized techniques.
Contact you local authorized dealer / distributor for complete cleaning instructions.
This appliance is factory equipped with 5mm ceramic glass. Use only replacement glass available from your
Napoleon® dealer. DO NOT SUBSTITUTE MATERIALS.

11.3 CARE OF PLATED PARTS

If the appliance is equipped with plated parts, you must clean fi ngerprints or other marks from the plated
surfaces before operating the appliance for the fi rst time. Use a glass cleaner or vinegar and towel to clean.
If not cleaned properly before operating for the fi rst time, the marks can cause permanent blemishes on
the plating. After the plating is cured, the fi ngerprints and oils will not affect the fi nish and little maintenance
is required, just wipe clean as needed. Prolonged high temperature burning with the door ajar may cause
discolouration on plated parts.
NOTE: The protective wrap on plated parts is best removed when the assembly is at room
temperature but this can be improved if the assembly is warmed, using a hair dryer or similar heat
source.

11.4 VALVE REMOVAL

Carefully lift the valve train assembly and turn off
A.
the manual shut-off valve, see "VALVE TRAIN
ASSEMBLY" and "GAS INSTALLATION" section.
NOTE: A new gasket may be required, when
re-installing the valve train assembly, contact
your local Authorized dealer / distributor.
Disconnect the fl ex connector from the valve.
Remove the valve wire connections, labeling each
one to aid with re-connection.
Remove the four screws from the valve bracket
B.
and remove the valve.
Replace all components before returning the
C.
appliance to service.
Check for gas leaks by brushing on a soap and
D.
water solution.

11.5 RESTRICTING VERTICAL VENTS

Vertical installations may display a very active fl ame. If this appearance is not desirable, the vent exit must
be restricted using a restrictor vent kit. Refer to "ACCESORIES" in the "REPLACEMENTS" section for the
appropriate kit. This will reduce the velocity of the exhaust gases, slowing down the fl ame pattern and creating
a more traditional gentle fl ame appearance. Specifi c instructions are included with the kit.
