OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
DONNING
1. Select an approved breathing tube (Please see Jupiter Powered Air
Turbo reference leaflet for list of 3M approved breathing tubes) and
connect top end to headtop assembly.
2. Adjust and buckle the waistbelt with the turbo fitted comfortably around
your waist and connect the bottom end of the breathing tube to the outlet
of the turbo.
3. Adjust the headtop as outlined in the appropriate user instruction.
4. Switch on the Powered Air Turbo, fit the headtop and ensure at least
the minimum airflow is achieved (The audible alarm will sound if below
minimum airflow - see fault finding).

^ Use in the power off state is not normal, little or no protection is
provided, vacate the contaminated area immediately.
Take care to prevent the breathing tube from becoming looped around
protruding objects. If this should occur vacate the contaminated area and
check apparatus is undamaged.
The 'in-use' life of the product will vary with frequency and conditions of
use.
If during use the airflow into the headtop stops, is reduced and the alarm
sounds or if odour is detected, vacated the contaminated area
immediately and investigate the cause (see fault finding).
In everyday use, it is recommended that the product is discarded after
approximately 5 years service, provided the product is stored and
maintained as stated below.
Some extreme conditions may result in deterioration over a shorter period.
DOFFING
^ Do not remove the headtop or turn off the air supply until you
have vacated the contaminated area.
1. Grasp the headtop and lift off the head.
2. Switch off the Powered Air Turbo.
3. Unbuckle the waist belt.
NOTE If the respirator has been used in an area that has caused it to
become contaminated with a substance requiring special
decontamination procedures it should be placed in a suitable
container and sealed until it can be decontaminated or discarded.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Do not clean in a potentially explosive atmosphere.
Use a clean cloth dampened with a mild solution of water and liquid
household soap. Do not use petrol, chlorinated degreasing fluids (such as
trichloroethylene), organic solvents or abrasive cleaning agents to clean
any part of the equipment. To disinfect use wipes as detailed in Reference
Leaflet.
MAINTENANCE
See Fig. 8.
Do not attempt any servicing operations, other than those described in
Fig. 1-9. Maintenance, servicing and repair must only be carried out by
properly trained personnel.
^ Use of unapproved parts or unauthorised modification could
result in danger to life or health and can invalidate any warranty.

Replace the battery after 500 charges. Filter gasket replacement (see Fig.
9). If disposal of parts is required this should be undertaken in accordance
with local health and safety and environmental regulations.
^ DO NOT DISPOSE OF NiMH BATTERIES IN A FIRE OR SEND FOR
INCINERATION. Battery Packs should be treated as special waste and in
accordance with your local environmental regulations.

NOTE

STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION
These products should be stored in the packaging provided in dry, clean
conditions away from direct sunlight, sources of high temperature, petrol
and solvent vapours. Do not store outside the temperature range -10°C to
+50°C or with humidity above 90%. When stored as stated, the expected
shelf life of the product is 5 years from date of manufacture. The original
packaging is suitable for transporting the product.
