qualified expert or an authorised REMS after-sales service facility in
case of damage. Check extension cable regularly and replace it when
damaged.
Specific Safety Instructions
Please use personal protective equipment (e.g. protective goggles, work
gloves).
The push cable is flexible having a high mechanical tension, whenever it
is pulled out from the cable carrier or fed into a tight bend. Therefore be
careful when pulling the cable out of the cable carrier or when feeding
back into the cable carrier. It is sprung, and may flip back. So you should
always keep one foot on the carrying handle of the cable basket, and keep
a firm hold on the insertion cable, holding it always in one hand.
Do not pull the insertion cable violently out of the tube, to avoid risk of injury!
Do not bend the insertion cable, to avoid risk of its breaking!
Insertion cable should not be pulled over sharp edges or sharp ends of
pipes, to avoid damage to the cable!
To clean the exchangeable cable set, e.g. with a jet of water, disconnect
the controller unit!

2. Putting the system into operation
2.1. Electrical connection
Have regard to the power supply! Before connecting with the given po-
wer supply, please check whether the voltage indicated on the perfor-
mance card is the same as the voltage available from the mains. Connect
power supply (1) by connecting to socket. Connect plug (2) of the po-
wer supply to the socket (3) of the control unit. Rotate plug (2) carefully,
to enable the plug pins to find their way into the socket. Tighten the union
nut. Connect the control unit with the exchangeable cable set. Carefully
rotate the pins of the plug-and-socket connector (4) so that the pins find
their way into the socket. Tighten the screws of the plug-and-socket
connector in a counter-opposed direction.
2.2. Controller unit
Take the controller unit out of the cable basket as required (to achieve
optimal positioning, allowing for direction of light). Then pull friction spring
(5) outwards, and pull the controller unit carefully out of the holder. Open
the lid of the controller unit.
2.3. Video output
BNC video output socket (6) for composite PAL video, to transmit the
color signal to the video recorder, video printer, color television etc., with
a standard cable as used in the trade.
2.4. Guide units
When working with larger pipe diameters, e.g. in a pipe network, it can
be advantageous if two guide units (accessories) are mounted on the
color camera head, so that the color camera head (7) will not be moved
directly on the floor of the pipe. The guide units (8) can be securely
fastened on the guide springs (9) at the front and the back with the screw
(10).
3. Operating the system
Clean pipe or channel before inspection. Draw the color camera head
carefully out of the cable basket. Do not bend insertion cable, as there
is a risk that it may break!
173043
Warning: the insertion cable is flexible, but it is subject to extreme mecha-
173044
nical tension when it is drawn out of the cable carrier/reel or pulled in a
173041
narrow arc. It is sprung, and may flip back. Always hold the insertion
173042
cable firmly in one hand. To pull out the insertion cable in a controlled
173200
fashion, it helps if you place one foot on the carrying handle of the cable
173126
carrier/reel.
173115
Introduce color camera head, inserting it e.g. into the pipe that is to be
173015
inspected. The brightness of the LEDs on the color camera head can
173014
be adjusted to brighter or darker if required, using the buttons (11,12).
If necessary, the brightness of the TFT color display can also be made
173018
brighter or darker using the buttons (13, 14).
With button (16) one can switch from full picture into partical picture
(enlargement). Keep button (16) depressed for approx. 2 s. Buttons (17,
173100
18, 19, 20) for scroll function.
571510
Push color camera head with the insertion cable into the pipe or chan-
173017
nel that is to be inspected. If the camera head encounters a bend in the
pipe, there will be increased resistance to insertion. To get round the
bend in the pipe, continue pushing the insertion cable with repeated
jerky forwards and backwards movements. When withdrawing the ca-
mera head, proceed in the same way.
Ø 40 – 150 mm
To clean the exchangeable cable set, disconnect the controller unit.
–10 to 50°C
4. Upkeep
230 V 1~, 50 – 60 Hz
4.1. Inspection
110 V 1~, 50 – 60 Hz
Before inspection unplug from the mains! Keep the equipment clean. In
12 V DC
particular, dirt should be care-fully removed from the guide spring. To
12 V DC
clean the exchangeable cable set, disconnect the controller unit. Do not
1 A
use solvents. Examine the protective cap (15) to make sure that it is not
15 W
damaged, and replace it if necessary (see 4.3).
IP 55
IP 54
4.2. Maintenance
The device is maintenance-free.
550 x 460 x 105 mm
4.3. Repairs
2.8 kg
Before carrying out repair work, unplug from the mains! If the protective
cap (15) on the color camera head is damaged, it should be replaced
< 70 dB(A)
in good time, so that the color camera will not be damaged by the penetra-
tion of water or dirt. For this the protective cap (15) should be unscre-
wed and replaced by a new protective cap (accessories). Other requi-
red repair work that may be necessary should only be carried out by an
authorised REMS contractual customer service workshop.
5. Malfunctions
5.1. Malfunction: Picture on TFT color display is too dark.
Reason:
LED is too dark (press button 11).
TFT color display is too dark (press button 13).
Insertion cable is damaged.
Color camera is defective.
