Working control
After the assembly make sure there is no water infiltration, no alien object in the fan unit, and that fan rotation is
completely free.
4.2

CONNECTION TO POWER SUPPLY

These operations must be carried out only by authorized personnel in possession of valid know-how as electrician or
electrical contractor, see 1.3.
The type of the appliance must fit the battery voltage of the vehicle (12V or 24V) according to 2.2. The type is indicated on the
package label and on the fan unit (motor).
The electrical connections must be carried out first between the fan unit and the commands, afterwards between the inverter
and the vehicle's battery circuit. Observe the wiring diagram in Fig. 2 and 4 and the following instructions:
-
Use only unifilar wires in isolated and stranded copper, section according to figure.
-
The connections to the wires coming out from the fan unit (with stripped ends) must be carried out with a connector suited
for use on vehicles and according to the wire section. The type of connection must avoid contact among wires and
between wires and electric mass of the system or any other circuits and active parts.
-
The connection to the operating devices (inverter I and switch C) must be carried out through female crimp connections
fitting with the tangs on the devices.
-
The wires must be secured to the fixed parts by clamps or other comparable permanent means.
-
The use of friction tape/adhesive to assure insulation or mechanical fixing is prohibited. Brazing and welding, also only as
temporary aid, are prohibited. The use of a suitable tool for crimping is mandatory (common pliers are not suitable).
-
The cable heads of the operating devices can be identified by comparison to the marks in Fig. 2, according to the
geometrical position and/or the printing on the same components.
The connection to the battery circuit must be protected against overload by a fuse with In=15A (supply 12V) o In=8A (supply
24V), situated on side of installation at the source of the connection to the inverter I. Upon the installer's evaluation (see
absorption data at 2.2), a circuit with these specifications may be used if already present in the system.
Test for efficient operation
After connection, correct operation of all functions must be verified (as described in 5.1), especially
correspondence between direction of air stream and position I of the inverter.
5. START-UP
5.1
WORKING DESCRIPTION
Referring to Fig. 4 the aerator is started bringing switch C in position «1», «2» o «3», corresponding to gradually increasing
speed and air stream, and is stopped bringing switch C in position «0». If working, the built-in pilot light of the operating
device is on.
In order to direct the air stream from outside towards inside the vehicle (for fresh air intake), the inverter I must be switched in
position «II», corresponding to the pictograph on the mobile part at the chosen position. The other position «I» produces the
opposite air stream (ejection of stale air into the environment).
5.2

SAFETY DEVICES

A grill prevents access to the fan both from outside and inside.
Accidental starting in ordinary operation therefore involves no additional hazards.
In case of fan jamming the first internal thermic protection fuse trips within 15 seconds to avoid further overheating and over
current of the motor, and, in case of persistance, a second thermic protection fuse, situated on the electromagnet, to avoid the
overheating of plastic components.
If the aerator is protected by a fuse as prescribed under 4.2, a wrong electrical installation will affect operation only.
After intervention of internal (thermic fuse) or external (fuse) electric protection devices, the appliance stops working,
and technical assistance is required according to 6.2.2.
