5.7.3 Cleaning the air filter element

Change filter element:
• If the filter element or sealing ring is damaged
Attention
• After cleaning twice
• If there are soot-containing deposits
• If moist or oily
• When engine performance reduces or
• the colour of the exhaust gas changes
Never operate the engine without air filter element
fitted.

– Unscrew wing nut (1), remove cover (2).
– Remove filter element (3) with foam insert (4).
Dirt must be prevented from entering the intake
port.
Attention
Do not clean filter housing (5) with compressed
air.
– Wipe out filter housing (5) on the inside with a cloth.
– Clean cover (2).
– Lightly knock our filter element (3) or
Eye injuries – wear safety goggles
Danger
– Blow out with dry compressed air from inside to the outside.
– Inspect filter element (3) for damage and replace if necessary.
– Place filter element (3) with foam insert (4) in the housing.
– Fit cover (2), check cover and seals for correct seating.
