General safety and application notes for Lenze motor
starters−16−
(according to Low−Voltage Directive 73/23/EWG)
1. General
Lenze motor starters can have live, even moving or rotating parts during operation − according to their enclosure.
Surfaces can be hot.
In case of an impermissible removal of the required cover, improper use, incorrect installation or operation, the risk
of serious personal injuries and property damages is present.
Additional information can be found in the documentation.
All work concerning transport, installation, commissioning and maintenance may only be performed by qualified
technical personnel (observe IEC 364 or CENELEC HD 384 or DIN VDE 0100 and IEC report 664 or DIN VDE 0110 and
national regulations for the prevention of accidents).
Qualified technical personnel within these basic safety instructions are persons who are familiar with installation,
assembly, commissioning and operation of the product and who have the respective qualifications for their work.
2. Application as directed
Motor starters are components intended for installation in electrical systems or machines. They are not household
appliances, but as components exclusively intended for application for commercial or professional use according to
EN 61000−3−2. The documentation contains notes for maintaining the limit values to EN 61000−3−2.
If the motor starters are installed in machines, the commissioning (i.e. starting the intended operation) is prohibited
until it is determined that the machine corresponds to the regulations of the EC guideline 98/37/EG (Machine
Directive); observe EN 60204.
The commissioning (i.e. starting the intended operation) is only allowed if the EMC Directive (89/336/EWG) is met.
The motor starters meet the requirements of the Low−Voltage Directive 73/23/EWG. The harmonised standards of
the series EN 60947−4−2/DIN VDE 0660 are applied to the motor starters.
The technical data and the information for connection requirements can be found on the nameplate and in the
documentation. They must be followed.
Warning: The motor starters are products with limited availability to EN 60947−4−2/DIN VDE 0660. These products
can cause radio interferences in residential areas. In this case, the operator may be required to perform corresponding
measures.
3. Transport, storage
Observe the notes for transport, storage and proper handling.
Maintain the climatic conditions to EN 60947−4−2/DIN VDE 0660.
4. Installation
The motor starters must be set up and cooled according to the regulations of the accompanying documentation.
Ensure careful handling and avoid mechanical overload. Do not bend any components during transport or handling
or change isolation distances. Do not touch any electronic components or contacts.
Motor starters contain electrostatically sensitive components that can easily be damaged through improper handling.
Do not damage or destroy any electrical components since it may result in health risks!
