3.6 Connecting the AS-Interface bus and the load voltage
Please note
The power supply for the sensors is provided via the
AS-Interface bus.
The outputs can only be supplied with power via the
AS-Interface if the DIL switch is configured appropri-
ately.
Warning
Use only power units which guarantee reliable electrical
isolation of the voltage supplies in accordance with
IEC 742/EN 60742/VDE 0551 with at least 4 kV isola-
tion resistance (Protected Extra-Low Voltage, PELV).
Switch power packs are permitted providing they
guarantee reliable isolation in accordance with
EN 60950/VDE 0805.
By using PELV power units, you can ensure protection
against electric shock (protection against direct and in-
direct contact) in accordance with EN 60204-1/IEC 204. For
supplying power to PELV networks, you should use safety
transformers with the symbol shown here. The valve ter-
minal must be earthed in order to guarantee the operation
of certain functions (e.g. EMC).
Recommendation: Use the Festo AS-Interface combi power
unit type ASI-CNT-115/230VAC-B.
