VERY IMPORTANT
General safety instructions
Read these safety instructions carefully, as well as the user,
operating and maintenance manual.
Always store them handy for later consultation.
The assembly weighs 46 kg and it must be moved using a
trolley after strapping the load onto it.
For safety purposes, always have two persons handle the
workstation.
This workstation was designed to compress the shock absor-
ber spring to separate it from the Macpherson strut.
Never use this workstation in applications not to be perfor-
med with a spring compressor.
Always use tools appropriate to each specifi c task.
Handle the workstation appropriately and, before any use,
check that all its elements and components are in good
condition and that none are missing.
Its use may be ensured only by authorized persons having
read and perfectly understood both the assembly instruc-
tions and requirements in this manual.
Never alter the specifi cations of the workstation.
Any breach of these provisions may lead to damage to the
user, the workstation itself or the part on which work is
performed.
The manufacturer waives any liability in case of improper
use of the workstation or component handled.
Air pressure must range between 6 and 10 bar.
Only use FACOM claws and cups.
Never modify the original claws and cups.
Always close the safety barrier during use 4 5 .
Use and precaution of use
Before any use, the operator must determine the cup to be
used, by referring to the allocation book A .
Position the fi rst coil of the shock absorber spring onto the
lower cup 1a .
Turn the shock absorber so that the coil is in uniform contact
with the cup 1b . Position the two upper claws onto the coil
available 1c .
When fi tting the Macpherson strut, the operator may guide
the claws by maintaining them using the lateral arms 2 .
Once the claws set to the spring diameter and in place inside
it, the arm tightening screws 2 must be locked.
Never place your hands on the spring when fi tting the claws.
The operator must ensure the spring is set properly in the
claws before starting compression.

If the spring is not placed properly at the bottom of the claw
as in photo 3 , choose appropriate claws.
During compression, the operator must not bring the spring
up to joining the coils.
Compression is suffi cient when the shock absorber is free
inside the spring.
Before removing the upper cup of the Macpherson strut,
check the latter is free, and is no longer under the spring's
pressure.
When removing the upper cup, the operator must always
beware potential falling of the shock absorber.
Maintenance / Guarantee terms
The machine must be supplied with lubricated air B .
For maximum effectiveness, the distance between the
compressor and air production source should not exceed 10
meters.
The pneumatic jack is fi tted with gaskets which are wear
parts, to be changed according to their frequency of use.
Slow and regular wear of certain parts may cause a drop
in the compressor's power. In this case, call our after-sales
department for a maintenance offer.
Before any use, check that the device has no air leaks.
The guiding rods must never be lubricated. Clean them
regularly, and every 300 cycles maximum 6 .
Guarantee: D = 2 years, refer to general terms of the FACOM
guarantee in the general catalogue or price list.
