BASIC FUNCTIONS AND SETTINGS
Button(s)
Description
The amplifier is switched on and off using this button at the front panel,
there is no standby option. When switched off the device is internally sepa-
rated from the AC power. As a precaution, before switching on, the volume
POWER (4)
setting of your system's amplifier and the headphone volume (14) should be
reduced. Once it is switched on, the "WARM UP" LED (6) lights up and the
device needs a few seconds until it is ready for operation. It is ready when
the warm-up LED has gone out.
This function may only be activated with the remote control and only during
playback. This control is to allow the adaptation of the player to the system
(mainly the amplifier) and it must not be used to change the volume of the CD
player in daily use. It is sufficient for almost all amplifiers/receivers/preampli-
fiers to put the setting to the maximum and to leave it there. A different value is
VOL + (36)
only used if the CD player is much louder compared with the other sources at
VOL – (37)
the amplifier/receiver or it is distorted (clipping). Hold down the "VOL+" button
to raise the output level. Use the "VOL-" to reduce it. The two-figure value of the
volume appears in the display. The maximum signal level is reached with a set-
ting of 26 and the minimum is at 00. This volume control has no effect on the
volume of the headphones (13) connected to the CD player. The HDCD signal
is only decoded if the volume is set to its maximum "26".
This function can only be operated using the associated remote control button.
DIMMER
When repeatedly pressed, the display (3) brightness is periodically reduced
(20)
(1x), switched off (2x) and restored to the original, maximum brightness (3x).
This function can only be operated on the front of the device. Turn the dial
"LEVEL" clockwise to increase the volume in the headphones and anticlockwi-
LEVEL (14)
se to reduce the volume. This volume control has no effect on the output level
of the analogue "AUDIO OUTPUT" (15) on the back of the device.
The display window for the visible tube (2) can be illuminated with one of
three brightness settings, if that is desired. The switch "LAMP" allows selection
between these three light levels as well as switching off the illumination (setting
LAMP (17)
"OFF"). Switch position "1" provides the lowest intensity and setting "3" the
maximum brightness. This function can only be adjusted on the back of the
unit. The button "DIMMER" (21) has no effect on the illumination of the tube
display window.
