2.2 Special functions

– Hiding total values during the trip k
If the BC 14.12 ALTI receives speed signals,
all the total functions (distance, time, and
cumulated altitude) are hidden on the display.
If no speed values are received, the functions
are once again displayed.

2.3 Altitude measurement

The altitude measurement on the BC 14.12 ALTI
is determined on the basis of the barometric air
pressure. Any change to the weather means a change
to the air pressure, which can lead to a change to your
current altitude. To compensate these changes in air
pressure, you must enter a reference altitude into the
BC 14.12 ALTI (process known as calibration).
– Calibration using the start altitude k The start
altitude is the altitude of your usual start location
(generally your home). You can find this information
on road or country maps. It is set in the
BC 14.12 ALTI once and calibrated within
a matter of seconds.
– Calibration using the current altitude k The current
altitude is the altitude of the place at which you are
currently located irrespective of your start altitude
(your trip start location, a mountain hut, or other
locations). The current altitude is used if you are
out on your bike and altitude information is provided.
